Alky hotairs

Ok guys, time for me to install alcohol. I want to do a DIY kit, Anyone got any pointers on nozzles or jets. I plan on putting the nozzle either in the adaptor neck under the turbo or the mounting thread hole near the bottom of the turbo.
I see the intercooled cars like the turn on point at around 15psi, does that work for a hotair? I plan on using the shurflo pump from Northern Hydraulics that sells for $44.xx. I have heard that would work fine. I guess I will follow Steves DIY kit instructions that red T raves about. Is there anything there that needs subsituted for a hot air setup?

The best thing we did was ask Lee Thompson where he had tapped his, I would email him and he will tell you how he did his set up.

I don't know how you would put it after the TB due to the suction. It would siphon out during normal driving unless you use some kind of solenoid to control it. The only tip I have from doing it is run a pump with a lot of pressure. IMO, 30-40psi isn't nearly enough. The old Jay Carter kit put out 90psi. With 30psi, that's only 10psi at 20psi boost.

I have pictures of the SMC alky setup on my 1984 Buick with Spearco intercooler at snapshots.com do a search on member mrbuick101 and take a look. I had to get the additional solinoid to keep the vacuum from sucking the bottle dry, but other than that it was an easy install. I mounted the nozzle in the tube just before the intake with some JB weld and it works great. I use 1/2 oz of Klotz Uplon lubricant with each bottle refill. I use denatured alcohol from Home Depot ($9.50 gal). I set the pump to come on at 13 psi and the EGT drops from 1800 to 1550*F and the best part is that I don't see any knock at 16lbs of boost in street trim.

Would a check valve work? I have seen that the shurflow pump I want to use will put out 60-90 psi with the pressure switch shorted? - So I have heard on a previous post in Alky/nitrous section.
MR. Buick. What type of nozzle do you got a spray type or fogger?

Mr. Buick. I couldn't really see the alcohol nozzle in your pictures, which one has the best view?
Anyone else have pictures to help the Hot air crowd out?

A checkvalve won't work. If your car is already intercooled, you can spray it somewhere after the IC, preferably close to the intake manifold. If you've done the TB relocation with the IC you can run a regular kit made for the 87s since the tubing won't be under vacuum anymore.

After reading about alcohol injection for most of the day, I think what I am going to do is install the nozzle where the filler tube connects to the MAF pipe, since I changed over to a open breather, The hole is already there for my new application. I concluded that using a misting nozzle before the turbo is the only way to go. I am going up to the heating and cooling store to see if I can find some nozzles for a dehumidifier or something like that. Now I just need to get a pump.

I would not recommend that you run alcohol into your turbo, have to believe that it would not be good for the turbo seals, shaft, bearings, or anything else it comes in contact with. Alcohol is very corosive and will promote rust. I think you would be better putting the nozzle on the discharge side very close to the intake manifold inlet.

I believe the simple solution for that would be use a little lube in your alky

Most likely, ANY liquid you inject ahead of the turbo will erode the compressor wheel. Ask the people who build turbochargers, they'll tell you the same thing. Adding lube to the alcohol won't prevent it either.
