alky lube question

I am in the process of installing an SMC alky kit today. The install seems to going very smooth. I've got the tank mounted, nozzle installed in the up pipe, wiring attached in engine compartment, wiring harness through the firewall (wheeeww), wiring harness attached to control unit. Just a few more simple steps. I got a bottle of Klotz lube and picked up some denatured alky at home depot (labeled S-L-K denatured, I presume this is the right stuff ?). I can't find anything around the house that measures 1/2 oz. to add to the alky. Is a cap full or two about 1/2oz ? Do I mix in the lube after adding the alky to the tank (1/2 gallon) and stir in the tank ?

That's the way I do it.

Dump in the alky. via a funnel with a fine mesh screen in it.

Two capfuls of Klotz lube on top of the water I use too.

Then mix it with an old wooden flag stick, be careful not to hit the wiring.

Premixing it is prolly smarter but certainly not quicker.

You'd be surprised at how much agitation goes on whilst driving so that helps mix too.

Those of us who drive normally dont do quite as agitating

I've got 145K on it and the potholes are as big as VW's here.

Lots of agitation..... including the driver.

I FORGOT TO USE KLUTZ LUBE IN MY ALKY KIT SOLUTION FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS. HOW LONG DO I HAVE BEFORE MY PUMP BREAKS? I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 60,000 MILES ON MY KIT AND I WANT IT TO LAST.

Where to get Klotz?

Where can you get Klotz lube? Do you have to buy it from SMC or can you get it at home depot or something? Thanks, James.

RRT, give it up. Your a freak and that is the only reason your car still runs

I believe you can get the klotz lube at any speed shop for use with methanol (any that sell racegas) or an equaliviant ALky lube.

BTW, the SMC pump is of totally different design than the shurfloy pump and that is why it is needed with the SMC kit and not most of the DIY kits.

Does the lube do anything to reduce methanol corrosion of the alky system or is it used strickly for lubrication?

If your pump is plastic..no lube.

If your pump is metal then lube.

No methanol with SMC pump..not recommended by SMC since its a steel roller pump. Methanol corrodes stell.

With a shueflow..run straight meth or a meth water mix..zero petroleum added..

will Marvel Mystery Oil or some ATF work as a proper lubricant? I know people reccommend either one of these things when using large quantities of Xylene in the gas tank to lubricate and as a buffer...

I want to use washer fluid in my SMC kit, but Im not a big fan of corrosion ...
