I am stuck, I have around 500 dollars to spend, my best time is listed in my sig. below and my mods. When I got that 60' I was on BFG drag radials. I have an issue getting traction, but I think I should be fine with a pair of slicks. So my question is do I get the HR bar or get Razor's alky kit to go faster? Or what other suggestions do you have. Thanks Scott

alky! fullthrottle.com has a deal going still i think $479 shipped.......and you can get some southern comfort for you! alky...X...2! :D

Man, you gotta get the bar or you'll never beat those hot ls6 trans am's!!!

Sorry I left my user up and this guy I work with that owns a trans am wrote that I think I am going to have to get the alky, and call eric to make me a new chip. Thanks for your help.

Decisions

Hi,
Razor's kit comes highly recommended. I think his TTA, using his kit, of course, is now in the 10s with a stock motor. He has gone pretty close to as far as he can go with that configuration, maybe another half second and five miles per hour, I think, but it is supposed to be the best system available. Good choice, as you are still in the 12s. Happy racing!

I guess I just don't understand how you can get through the quarter mile faster with out traction?

THe HR bar is really nice, but pretty expensive. I would work on getting traction first before adding more horsepower. You know you never going to stop trying to make more horsepower. I would spend my cash on traction adding components other wise you are just spinning your wheels.

The HR bar is awesome, but there are other things you can buy that are less expensive, however if you are going to keep on adding horsepower then just buy the HR bar and a set of air bags.

Just my opinion.

i have the HR bar in both cars

when i was running stock bars i was hitting 1.6-1.7s with airbags(15/7) and good control arms (southside style lower and adjust uppers) but had to be easy on the power

tires MT et streets radials in the 26 " height (i used 255/50-16)

took out the front bar and 60 times got worse and was even more unpredictable in how much power i could give off the line without going to smoke

put in the HR bar (no front bar) and deflated the air bags and 1.6 lows are the norm even when the track is poor but have yet to get much lower than i did with both stock bars . best 60 so far was 1.588 with the alky car 1.50 with the 86

my take the bar works but unless you are planning to visit the track often its not needed for a one time deal , but i like it and it drives nice and leaves flat

get the alky and with what you save on race gas over the course of next year , you could even run regular unleaded and save faster for tires and the HR bar .

alky 4 sho

well traction wasnt an issue in my old t & hell I got beat out the hole by a srt 4 :frown: I know sad but true but even though it was on spray & open dump 3inch I still went fishing :D All due to the alky. My old t had 300 on the stock motor but with the alky keeping it from detonating & the eric marshall chip it pulled up top like a fat chic pulling on a twinky. The alkycontrol is the best mod. Now if only I can get a kit on the new car with all these specials everyone is offering, I wonder if that damn guy razor has helping will get off his ass & do some work. :p

alky, at that power level there are other cheaper mods you can do to get traction. Alky is the way to go on this one. Flat out the best mod ive ever done to my car. No longer do i have to make an excuse about pump gas being the reason why some mid 12 sec ls1 was able to hang with the GN when its a supposed 11 sec car.

I agree, alky is your best bet at that power level. I've seen pleanty of guys running high 1.4 60' times on aftermarket or boxed control arms and the stock rear bar.

My control arms are Metco and I also have airbags. I should go through my slips and look at other peoples 60' times to compare. Just to see if it was the track. Looks like I will be ordering Alky before Jan. 1st. I think I will also invest in a pair of rims and slicks before I go to the track next. I am also getting a bigger exhaust housing for my turbo instead of the .63 housing, some say this will help get me a little better traction becasue it will take a little longer to spool. I think the big issue is my stall is too big for my turbo, but I will go bigger on the turbo one day. Thanks for the input guys
