This is just my experience, so caveat emptor but--
I put a Ford Powerstroke diesel intercooler (front mount) on my '87 TR. Suddenly I had a high-speed stutter. Not a miss exactly, but power dropped off noticeably and the car seemed to stutter. I trouble-shot the ignition system using the "throw parts at it" philosophy, replacing the plugs, plug wires (free because of lifetime warranty) and coil pack (also free on lifetime warranty). No luck. I ordered a new AC-Delco ignition module, but while waiting to get it I just thought I'd try something... I put some high octane gas in the tank and turned the alcohol off--presto! no more stutter. The alcohol injection was drowning the engine. Probably overcooling with the addition of the front mount intercooler. I stepped the jet down until it quit stuttering. I went from an .030 jet to an .020 jet.

Just my experience, but might be something to keep in mind if you're running alky injection and change to a more effecient intercooler.

I dont think you can over cool an engine. i think you were doing just like you said. You were drowning out the motor. Instead of swutching jets. Why didny you just tun down the pump speed?.

Ive been wondering about this same thing lately. I changed from a stretch to a liquid IC recently along with a few other changes. Right now I'm in race gas only mode until I get the bugs worked out. I was wondering what the alcky is going to work like with pump gas if I got my tanks iced down. Not sure what my intake temps are when iced down. I do know that after a 25# run my up pipe to the throttle body is deffinately cooler to the touch than my cold air induction pipe.
I wonder if propane injection would have the same problem?

Thanks for posting the info: Jason
