Well dont know where to begin and bearly remember how it ended

Was end of 2nd period during Wings game, I made quick run up to store to grab a coke and seen guy ive seen around with a Monte, him and his bud were eyeballin me I asked what he had, 406 blah blah, what do I got?...oh just a six...ok well we see where this is going.

So he wants to run, IM tired after struggling with friends car all day but of course why not.

SO we line em up, I launch at 2400 or so and all of a sudden my throttle sticks?, boosting like mad and wont let go like a 200 shot of juice or Satans got ahold of this damn thing...who the hell knows but in a split second im praying for Jesus to take the wheel..no luck its all me.

All I know is the car is fishtailing violently as im passing him, I got about 3 cars? in front at this time spinning 360 as IM sure this guy is saying holy $hhit.

IM facing him, IM turned around, I dont recall how many 360s i did as smoke from the tires filled the street then one final spin into oncomming traffic.... snaked through 2 cars into a parking lot...car is stalled.

I hit key and it fires right up and I drive it home, idles fine, no knock on log
I just put car away, I'll check in morning for damage internal wise to motor.

Never again on street tires will i ever kick it down like i did...just plain idiotic, foolish and whatever names anyone else can think of to call me.

But I dont think that guy will want to race the buick again, he prolly thought i did that on purpous.... beat him then do doughnuts in front to rub it in

Anyway I need to chill out for awhile

Sweet Jesus man, that's crazy. You are obviously a lucky man.....or perhaps not so lucky. How the heck did the throttle stick?

dunno I tried to let off and nothing, it just kept getting worse and worse and worse, missed curb, missed him and shot up front then around and around and around...i dont know

Never mind, I'm sure both hands were whiteknucking the steering wheel. If you had a hand free, it was probably busy grabbing for soem toilet paper. LOL!

Glad you're OK. Let us know about that throttle stick.

and to think i didnt have any time to look down at my laptop, over to the knock gauge, ahead to my scanmaster and upleft at my boost gauge:rolleyes:

starting to calm down now...alittle

We are going to have to get you one of those
shut off deals that you attach to your wrist...
Like on a jet ski...:)

I took one of those rides in a 4 speed vett. just kept grabbing gears so the motor didn't go boom. when I hit the curb on about the 3rd or 4th doughnut it knocked the throttle off. Drove home very sloooow.

Yeah Ron, I was getting ready to give you a ring to help calm my assdown but all i got is your work line.

Adrenalin is got me crashing now, feel the headache comming on

Wow, that must have been one hell of a ride. Glad that you made it through safely! That's amazing that you managed not to hit anything. Man I'd love to hear the story from the Monty guy's point of view!!!!!

But I dont think that guy will want to race the buick again, he prolly thought i did that on purpous.... beat him then do doughnuts in front to rub it in

when you got your drawers cleaned out and it's been a couple days....go back and read this again...friggin priceless. I don't think anyone will 'f' with you again for a long time! hahaha....;) Glad ur okay, bro...

Never seen it do this on a throttle cable car but on cars with solid linkages I've seen a broken motor support cause it to happen. The engine will lift up and cause the throttle to go wide open. Might want to look at the mounts plus check your cruise control stuff. I've also seen cables move and get caught on other stuff causing it to not release.

Glad you're okay. I've had a couple of rides like that (out of control) but it was usually weather induced.

I'll look, I have block strapped down but I'll undo the strap and check mount.
The car is not a wild build by any means, but even a stocker with street tires can get silly so this is a valuable lesson for me.

woulda made a great Utube vid in hindsight but at 41 yrs old I know when I got lucky and I'll make the adjustments accordingly...DR's and IM gonna turn the boost down a little but I know it spiked with Jasons controller and thats prolly what almost killed me.

Mike,

Google Grand National Throttle stuck.
Looks like you are not alone..

Check your floor mat, most of the stuck throttle probs I have seen in late model cars were caused by a wadded mat.

Holy crap! Glad you're okay!

absolutely. a girl at my school just wrecked her moms 07 mustang. drove through a wrought iron fence and head on into a tree. i came up on the car and she was shaking violently saying she "couldn't get the car to stop.... it just kept revving." i looked into the car and the pedal was still stuck to the floor w/the mat holding it wot!

I got floormats pulled back and secured, dunno what happend but really it just comes down to complete stupidity on my part. Once again at 41yrs old I should have known better but I got it tuned and tweaked and my butt dyno tells me so....with no grip on the road I knew in the back of my puney little brain I was just asking for trouble and almost got it in spades.

Ive had alot of quick cars in my life but as Ronnie Mar and I talked about on the phone one day, these cars can be down right dangerous and sometimes in the hand of a dumb a$$ like me, it coulda ruined alot of innocent lives as well.

But No more sillyness untill I get some good stickys on period.

Not to see any humor in this. But no one was hurt.
And this is the way I am.

Just this A.M. in a PM to Eric (TT). I told him that there would be a lot of performance parts for sale cheap this summer........ With everyone buying the new technology 6776BB's. Any stock bottom end car with this capability 11sec to 10s at the push of a pedal is a bad mofo. Instant racecar. Witch spelled backwards is racecar. For those that didn't know. Yeah Yeah it's supposed top be 2 words but you get the point.

I had the throttle stick on my old GN YEARS ago. It was the cruise control canister that casued it. I pushed the accel button the the turn signal switch (cruise control) and it started to accelerate. Then I let off of the button and it kept on goin'.....and goin'....and goin' like a 85 year old in front of you in the pisser. I had to turn the key off and pull over. (not fun with power master brakes and no power steering) and open the hood to find the cruise control diaphram was cocked over and stuck wide open.
Maybe you hit the cruise control button accidentally when you stood on it.? Maybe it's time to change your throttle cable (and your Spider-Man undies, too) Our cars are 20 years old now. And we all know that the throttle is REALLY used on a Turbo Buick. If it is, even a little frayed, it can stick real easy. Maybe a little throttle ice? Not usually a problem in May, though. ('specially with Al Gore's global warming. )(Al Gore didn't invent the internet..........BUT,.......he DID "make up" Global warming) Maybe the throttle shaft is a bit sticky? What throttle body are you running? Check to make sure it will not over-center. Check the return springs. Maybe one is broken. Maybe you were dreaming that you were racing a 406 Monte Carlo? We all know that no one in thier right mind would EVER try to race a 406 Monte Carlo with a LAME V6.
As scary as this sounds, I would LOVE to see a video of that fancy, trick driving skills of yours! I bet the guy will NEVER try to race a GN agian. "Man look at that azzhole!..........he beats me and then has to show off doin' donuts in the middle of the road in front of me!..........All them Buick guys are nothin' but a bunch of show-offs! I'm gonna go buy me a Mustang and really show him next time!"
Glad to hear you made it out alive!
