Altitude and boost.

Does altitude affect boost? If so how much? How much does octane affect boost?

Higher altitude means thinner (less dense) air, so less power/torque then say at seal level. A higher octane fuel being used would help reduce the tendency for a engine to "ping" or "knock" for a given situation.
