I was changing my trans fluid recently when I noticed a lot of tiny aluminum flakes in the oil. They are so small it almost looks like silver paint! I have had one person tell me that it's from the converter stator (restalled d5). Before I make a phone call tommorow, I'd like someone elses opinion please. thanks.

Last time I had a converter going south it looked exactly like what you describe. Almost like the metallic used in a paint job.

Thanks guys, this converter is only 5 months old and has less than 200 miles on it so lets see what the vendor says today!

Ok, now that my trans is full of aluminum, what are the chances the clutches/band will survive? Will they be ruined by the particles of aluminum? I'm sure when I inspect the band. I'll see it impregnated with metal. The oil is just full of copper/silver metal flake!

Hrmmm

It is not mine , is it?

If so , warranty is up, heheheh.:D

No, its from Mike K and it has a 1 yr 12,000 mile warranty so he's taking care of it. I'm just concerned about the metal in my clutches and band right now.:(
