I think your right on the idiot thing thou, Seems like whenever I tell someone I have a GN all the sudden they start smack talkin and everytime there seems to be a GN in the story that they raced and beat. I hate the blo hard know it alls on this subject. By the way they always seem to be driving some POS that never had a chance after they got ahold of it.

yeah probably blowing smoke. alot of people have misconceptions of all of them lik esince my turbot is a single turb the gn is twin turbo and the gnx has a twin v-8 and such. most people only hear myths about the cars and then spread them on.

It's all those jokers we put in the review. They refuse to believe it's a V6...heck I still have people saying I have a turbocharged V8 lol

They're not (confused). They just not how irate a turbo Buick fan gets when he hears about the infamous twin turbo GNX. You don't really think that all these people that you hear that tale from are really that stupid, do you?
Same scenario as, "Hey, dude, nice monte" when they see you with your GN.

The fellow that works two doors down from me is definitely confused. He yelled across the parking lot monday morning and wanted to know if I was interested in selling that 'international'. I told him that he didn't have enough money and I wouldn't sell it to anyone that couldn't tell the difference between a car and a truck. I think he is the guy that drives the WRX.

I wouldn't bet on it. It has been my personal experience that most of these people that call a Gn a International, or monte, really know what they are.
They just know where the open wound is and like to pour salt in it. If you tell that it is a Grand National, and they proceed to call it a monte or international again, that should tell you something. I agree with whatever they say just to see if they come over for a closer look. If they mention that my white turbo-t is a monte, I agree with them and tell them that it is an '85 aerocoupe, or some bs like that. If they don't come over for a closer look and drop the conversation, I figure that they really did not know. If they come by for a closer look, I figure those guys knew, or at least suspected that it was a turbo Buick all along. Works for me. we should always be polite and explain it to them at least 1 time, if they continue past that you are being. stroked

Quit thinking that these people are stupid or confused. They are not. If they even know the name of International, you can bet your buns that they know what a GN is. If you doubt this, accidently refer to his WRX as a Dodge Neon, Celica, or whatever and see how quick he hand gernades on you.

Maybe he bought Buddy Cox's car.

umm

What are peps? Is that an acronym or something?......

umm sorry guys peps or peeps is people. and sorry for the wrong section post i was looking for torque specs and sequence for the intake manifold and must not have gotten to the talk section. but anyways it does seem like everyone has some kinda story about beating one or twin turbo this or that. dang people.

I get one of 3 reactions when I tell people I have a Grand National:

1) "What's that?" When I explain their eyes roll up into the back of their head when I say "V6".

2) "My brother's cousin's uncle's sister's boyfriend's buddy has one of those. Twin turbo, right?"

3) "I have one (or many) of those, but I took that POS V6 out and put a 350 in it. You should do the same."

The people that work at the Autozone seem to know about them, or at least have an interest. Last time I was there all 3 employees and the manager had their noses pressed up against the front window as I drove away :).
