Yes the one I had did have the bulge like the rest of the Turbo hoods. It was slightly shorter in height and for that reason I didn't put the emblems on it.

Seen quite a few BOP only 200-4R cases but never a Chevy only, likewise, never even heard of 700-R4 other than Chevy or FWD bolt pattern, now a BOP powerglide gets mislabled, it's actually a "Super Turbine 300" 2 speed, very little in common with actual powerglides.

Kevin.

Don't know how this got in here Kevin but I have a very strange tranny in the shop right now. Confirmed by Chris at CKperformance. It's a powerglide with the BOPC pattern. He said he's even got a few in his shop so they at least exist.

There are aftermarket SFI castings for glides with dual bolt pattern.

What the hell, why not bring this dead decaying horse beating back to the top!

Why? Because I got an 84 mitchell crash book the other day, and looking through it, I got not 1, but 2 part numbers for aluminum hoods. NOT listed under the regal section, but under 78-81 buick CENTURY. Guess what, 78-81 century STEEL hood part number is the same as 78-80 regal steel hood, meaning a century aluminum hood will fit an early 78-80 regal. Hood shocks and front pop up springs have different part numbers for steel and aluminum in both regal and century sections. NO MENTION of turbo hoods except for steel ones, but crash books aren't always 100%. AND THEN, I have a number for 81 turbo cars that is different from 82-87 turbo cars. It is really hard to pin this all down from crash books, I have seen them be wrong before, as they don't check every single application. But I do know I have a lot of part numbers here and I'd love to hear from someone like Eric Fisher. Some of it could be superseded numbers of the same part, but for the early cars, it specifically states aluminum with different numbers. Flat or turbo hood, not sure but aluminum is out there for 78-80 guys. I think a lot of them already knew that but others keep calling them crazy.

Note 1: 81 century stuff does not apply to 81-up regals. 81 century used leftover 78-80 stuff because it was on it's way out.

Note 2:, I have part numbers for aluminum hoods in cutlasses for both 78-80 AND the 81-up style. AND aluminum hoods for 78-80 grand prixs.

The plot thickens.....
