Annodizing brass?

Stupid question here, but..........I was wondering if brass can be annodized using a similar process as is done with aluminum? I was thinking about having some underhood brass fittings annodized in a reddish type color if this is possible?? If so, does anyone know where I could get a small quantity of parts done? Thanks.

true anodization creates an aluminum oxide film with other compunds added to achieve a specific color (including clear). So, brass won't "anodize" in the usual sense.

There are other platings that could be done to brass. a Google search, or talking to a shop that does a variety of industrial palting, might yield more info.
