nobody is whining pal. you guys think its such a big deal beating a bone stock 03 cobra with your modified gn's
 
Yawn...you are boring. You need to get better at smack talking before you put a 160 thermostat in your 84 Mustang and start kicking butt and taking names. You need to be able to talk enough smack to back up a bad ride like that.
 
First nobody said anything about beating an 03 Cobra. You brung it up. And we dont have to talk about GN lets talk about LS1's my school has a stock bottom end stock displacement automatic LS1 that has ported heads and a cam. And weight over 3500 lbs. And you dont wanna know what it runs. Try 10.64@ 125 with a women driving. Nothings wrong with women drivin itrs just worse when you get beat by one. 03 Cobra's are dyno queens. I have out ran one that had 515 rwhp and my GN only has 445. I have also seen an 03 with 621 rwhp and only run a 7.20@100. Where is all that hp going it definatly aint going to the ground who gives a crap about #'s. And for the guy on there that said Gm's weight to much. That same 621 rwhp 03 Cobra weighed 3880 with a Skinny driver that proly weight 140. So tell me who is the pig.

hmmm i don't consider myself to have a whole lot of mods. mostly just standard add on equpment. Last time I was at the track there where four '03 cobras and not one could touch me. one even had a set of nitto drag radials on which graba harder then my bowling green custom rcaps and my open rearend. They all got me on the light but i had them chased down right at the sixty foot mark and just walked away from them the whole way down. I can do the same thing to a LS-1 but they are always right on my ass i gotta keep in it as hard as i can to shake them. I was just expecting more out of a 30K plus blown v-8 car.

I'm not too afraid of an '03 Cobra and here's why....

A few months ago I took the 'ol GN out for one last cruise before tearing it apart to find out why it was running pretty crappy. I put some Xylene in the tank with a 93 chip and it ran decent at 18lbs of boost considering I couldn't run more than 13psi on pump gas. (I would get knock real easy.)

So, I am getting on the fwy and see an '03 Cobra that I spotted at the car show. It was a 6spd, had a K&N, and Exhaust. I pulled up next to him and we both nail it. I pulled a couple car lengths on him. We played on the fwy for awhile and the only time he could keep up is if we both hit it from a 80mph roll or faster. I felt real good considering my car was running like crap.

Well, I pulled the cam and found this:

Yup, #3 exhaust was pretty much gone.
I finally got the car back together and will get it registered when the tags are due this November (it's non-op right now) and can't wait to take on some more '03 Cobras.

In my younger days I would have been at the Sonic in FtWorth Joining the throng of guys handing the Cobra his @ss (It's just a couple miles from the house).

Dudes Cobra wasn't bone stock. With similar mods my T-type ran 12.2's (stock turbo, injectors, intercooler, etc.) I doubt that if smokdu went to the track he'd get into the 12's.

Buying a fast car doesn't make someone fast. Not being fast and having a big mouth doesn't play in DFW. (There are 5 dragstrips within a 1 hour drive)
 
guys quit saying stuff like GN's need more mods to be faster than a cobra.

now if both cars came with a 4.6 ltr supercharged v8, than i could see comparing which takes more mods to do witch.

they are two diffrent motors, respond diffrently to diffrent things.
 
A bone stock 86-87 Turbo Regal is realistically a 13.90-14.40 car.
Sure someone will say that they had one that ran 12'swith just blah blah. Mods are mods.
An '03 Cobra with the average magazine driver is a 12.80-13.20 car out of the box.
To get an 86-87 Turbo Regal to run with one requires mods. No ands ifs or buts. If you beat one, then either the 03 drive couldnt drive or you have a lot more done to your car than you are admitting.
The main factor that hurts the Cobra is the 6 speed gear box since many people just cant drive a stick to save their life and that part of it will lose races for many 03 Cobra owners unless they learn to launch and drive their cars.
The 03 Cobra is a fast car and you do get a lot for $35k
They respond to small mods just as well as the Buicks do and I am sure you will see more and more of them out there.

I dont see how my education would affect my answer. you definatley do not want to compare jobs and success with me stupid. btw I drive a 2003 Maxima GLE and a 89 Mustang. So go back to your 9-5 job stupid.

When I beat a $35K with 450 RWHP per the owner with my $5K car with $2K in bolt ons, yes I will talk smack.

Cobra Dude in the DFW Forum has no legitimate right to talk smack. First he's King of the world because he bought a Cobra, though he's never been to a track. Then everyone hands him his @ss. He says "they all have NAWSSS or a Blower" when they don't.

If we are the ones without brains, please go back to your mustang forum.
 
If you own a maxima, why do spend so much time on a Buick web site talking smack about a Cobra? I currently do own a 03 Cobra, and a 03 Lightning, and I don't feel the the need to defend them. Is it faster as a bone stock car, sure it is. But, both cars respond well to mods, both are fun to drive, and from my experience, both get alot of attention on the street. Personally, for everyday driving I prefer my Lightning, which in its Sonic Blue color gets more attention than anything I've owned, including the Cobra, the 4 gn's, 11 5.0 mustangs, a Hurst/Olds, and some others. Why am I spending my time here, because as soon as I sell my Cobra, I will be looking for my 5th gn.
 
OK, so these are two different cars and from two differnt eras. Both are great examples of what the then current technolgy produced. Let's appreciate both, understand both can be jammed with mods to make them still street legal and able to kick ass on most anything else around. I know the testosterone is flowing thick as my Mom's gravy used to, but please as that infamous Southern California motorist Rodney King said, "cain't we all juz get along?" LMAO Mark :D :D :D

p.s. GN'S DO RULE. , but the Mustang is a darn hot car no matter what.

Geez you two, cool it . This isn't the WWE and we don't set up grudge matches anywhere but the track. Are we not men, or are we hoodrats? The smack is juvinile and senseless. Talk about your cars and let your et's answer the questions. You both may learn a little something from each other. Besides, neither of you would fair well against big Bubba in the local lock up. All I am going to say is if the crap doesn't stop, you both will be locked out and that is it. This is a place for exchanges of ideas and FRIENDLY rivalries, not a place for people to dig and smack. I don't know who started it and it really doesn't matter, but it will be finished here as far as TB.com is concerned. Mark :mad:
