I think they said that car was actually white. And it would seem to be a solid 9sec or faster car...

As far as people being taken out, I can take you both out of here with the click of a mouse. Something I really don't want to do, being you are both fairly new to the board. Leave it alone and learn how to let the water run off your backs. This whole thing sounds so much like a lot of sand box posturing. One of the two needs to show their age and let the other just keep on pushing buttons. When that happens, we will know who needs to be on another board. THIS BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED HERE. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can you sit here and talk about stock vs stock when you are talking about a 16 year older car. If you really wan't to compare then you would have to compare a 87 stang vs 87 GN then talk. If they made a 03 GN I do believe it would be smoking that cobra. Stock to stock huh only took you 16 years to catch up.

Ok, everyone here knows how good the GN's are. But as far as Ford just now catching up, you need to go study the Mustang SVO. They had an injected, intercooled turbo 4 banger that was a little smoker for it's day and Buick didn't start using injection until 86. They did pretty well being in a 3k pound car with a 2.3L. Those also with very little work kicked some serious ass for their day also. They also were set up for some great road driving as well. So, it's not that one is any more dominate than the other, it's just where they manufacture want's them to be at.

$3k will put a Cobra deep into the 11's. Exhaust, chip pulley are yeilding 120mph trap speeds, and just add a Kenne Bell Blower kit and now they are in the 9's. Its got everything a GN motor has and add forged internals and more cubic inches. Its a no brainer, they come with a detuned stage motor in their cars.

Cobras are fast. I'd love to have Smokdu's car and show him how its done.

The way he is doing it is a case study in how it is not done:

1. Base your cars performance on what a magazine article says it can do.

2. claim to beat Z06 corvettes based on the above magazine article.

3. Brag to a bunch of LS1 guys that ran 11's with their cars back when Smokdu was driving his mom's camry that they can't beat him (because of what he's read in a magazine article)

4. Call out all the heads/cam/cubes LS1's of DFW by implying nothing can beat him without a blower or N2O

5. Now that's he called all this attention to himself, when he fianally goes to the track, he will be a whipping boy until eventually he figures out how its done.

I think someone needs to invite him up to Noble 2003. He should be able to smoke all our little V6's. Maybe we can take up a collection and pay his entrance fee?

I'll be running my stock 24K mile GN with drag radials. Maybe he'll be faster than me. We'll see.

How many 0 mile GNX's can you have though? Even back in 1987 they were only $4k cheaper than a Cobra today. For every GN we have, someone can build 3 sbc Yugos.

Ford hit a home run with the Cobra in every way ( except the fact that they put the motor in a Ford vehicle). Like I mentioned, they have a V8 stage motor in there. Once guys figure out how to get the power through that motor via. a big ass turbo kit, i'm sure you'll see low 9's on the stock block.

I think we all bought our GN's because of the rarity and their speed and especially because of the fact that they did it with a V-6, but I have respect for all fast cars. I hate Ford products, but SVT division of Ford seems to be composed of real car enthusiasts and it shows in their vehicles, especially the Cobra and Lightning, and it goes to show you how much Ford itself is lacking (by an enthusiast standpoint) by making the GT so underpowered. We would all kill for GM to use a beefed up, boosted Iron block with forged internals in any car.

The Cobra is a really great vehicle, and I take nothing away form it. I think the fact that Ford managed to kick a car like this out from the factory is pretty damn impressive. But I don't think that it is substantially "scarier" to come across on the street than any number of other cars. When I race, it's from a stop, and every 03 I've run up against has had serious issues putting the power to the ground. Yes, they make a LOT of power with a few mods, but so does the GN, so does the LS1, so does the 2JZ, so does the RB26DET..... Stock, yes, they are a great car. But if they are still stock, I'll run all over them. Because I'm NOT stock. Streets = run what you brung.

I agree Trans am. Many great cars by many makers out there. The main problem that occured in this thread was someones mouth was spending more than their car could pay for is all. We need to have a complete appreciation for all good perfomance factory cars, but let's not get so pulled in we think we are all that and no one else can be. As soon as we think we can beat them all, someone is gonna spend the bucks to prove us wrong. It escalates to the point that you end up bringing out a AA/F car to beat whoever. lol. Mark
