Well installed the 86-7 ignition on my dad's car. Put an ac-delco module and coil in it. It is better but still jumpy at idle. The BLMs never got below 121 during the log.

It is still cutting off the injectors during engine deceleration, but way, way less than it was.

Can the IAT control fuel? Because I dont have an IAT installed in the car with the 86 - 87 comp.

During the log the ecm set the IAT to 76 degrees I believe, but it was 90 degrees outside.

So it may have been over fueling the car if it thinks it is colder than it is.

Before the ignition install the car would stumble badly about a second after engine deceleration (due to the 0% DC on injectors). Now after decel. the engine pops right back to idling.

The only real complaint is at steady part throttle it is still cutting cylinders out.

Tell me what you see.

Thanks,
Jerry

You might want to do some searching on vortexbuicks as well. Steve really knows his stuff so there may be something there that will help you.

The factory chip was designed to turn off the injectors on decel. It is completely normal. It's call "Decel Fuel Cutoff" and it's listed on the Powerlogger data screen as DFCO. You will see when it turns on and off.

Wow, learned something new. I had no idea the stock chip did that. Great info

Wow that is awesome

Thanks for the help Eric knew it would take some real reading or an expert to figure that out. I saw dfco on the pl screen but hadn't a clue what it meant. The car is still missing, but we are going to take the car out and drive it for the first time today probably. Hope we don't get stuck somewhere. All tests have been at idle in park so it's possible driving could be better.

Again thanks,

Jerry

Sounds like it's time for an upgraded chip Jerry. Good info Eric, glad to see you here.
