Just wanted to drop a line and let everyone know how pleased I am with my new alky kit from Julio (Razor). It was easy to install, and works awesome. It took only 3 throttle mashes to get the car running good, the first 2 were a little rich. I am running a FAST ecm, but haven't even tuned it yet. I haven't even begun to work this system yet, the boost is coming up next! I am running straight methanol, and after cruising and some alky assisted full throttle blasts, when I parked the car the intake and plenum were cool to the touch! Meth is awesome!

My only regret is not doing it sooner. Anyone on the fence to try alky, go with Razors kit, you will not be dissapointed. I have what many would consider to be a high end set up, with aluminum heads, FAST, roller cam, GT67, etc. This was a great addition to my combo.

Aside from the high quality and well enginered kit, Julio is great to deal with. He answers his phone, and even when you are most likely annoying him to death, he is nice and helpful. He is easily one of the top 2 or 3 vendors I have dealt with, if not the best, and believe me, I've dealt with all of them. Big thumbs up!!!!

I'm very embarrassed to say it took me almost 6 hours to install it, but I was working slowly and was very meticulous. I spent a lot of time looking at various mounting positions and double checking my work. I have so much stuff on this car it gets hard to fit more. I spent an hour just trying to find a good spot for the overflow. Its easy though, could do it on a less modified car in about 3 hours.

Thanks. I have read some posts that indicated it took longer than six hours, so you did well.

Damn, I am so up in the air about alky its rediculous. I love the idea and havnt heard one bad thing yet about RAZORS kit, but I have been taught the old school way and its hard to make that leep. I have been told that there is no substitute for race fuel, and lots of boost is not good, and I understand why. But I also understand how alky works and dont see boost as a bad thing as long as there is no knock. Man this is sooo difficult. Somebody let me know why I should or shouldnt get it. The car is mostly driven on the street, but ever since my first time to the track I kinda got the bug. OK I will just sit here and go nuts now!

Nick

As you stated, as long as you don't have knock it doesn't matter what you use to prevent the knock. Alcohol is a lot less expensive than race gas and it doesn't harm your O2 sensor. I can't run as much timing (21*) using the alcohol as I can with race gas (26*) but I can run almost as much boost (23-24#). Others can run higher timing and boost so your results may differ.
I like being able to go to the track for test and tune and the car is already dialed in with the alcohol. I don't have to drain the street gas, pour in race gas and then make a couple runs to get the car dialed in for the race gas. I just go for the fun of it and to try to beat my best time; I don't go to race the car beside me.
To sum it up, alcohol = :D .

Nick,

Here's an opinion that's surely worth what you're payin' for it. :D
You may have pretty much solved your own delimma (above) when you think about it. Obviously, there are almost as many ideas/combos as there are cars out there and I'm sure every owner feels he has done it the 'best way'. It seems for your general use, alky may be a logical route. For your type driving I'm not sure why you would want to deal with the inconvenience/expense related to race fuel when there is a practical and safe alternative. As for turbos and boost being 'bad' things, they have been a reliable part of aviation for many years, even with the mandatory safety standards and applicable regulations.
Anyhow, for some other info to chew on, take time to READ THIS .
