Another Turbo ID Thread...

Sorry about this guys, but Ive been trying to figure out this turbo for the last month or so, and really havent had any luck....

I bought this turbo about 6 years ago, and forgot that I had it. After doing some inventory, I opened a box and found it, it was like christmas! Anyhow, I was told that it was a PT70 P-trim...

On the compressor side:
Garrett
A/R .55
M12
P
1225-4

Exhaust side:
MS
G
A/R .82


The thing that really confuses me is that every PT70 that I have seen has a 4 inch inlet and 3 inch outlet . This one is a 4 and a 2.5... The Garrett website isnt much help, it only lists the GT series turbos.

Anyhow, if anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. I am considering using it as one turbo of the 2 that I need for a buildup, so I need an exact match, or I at least need to know what it is so I can sell it to buy 2 GTQ70s ... TIA!!

Looks like an old school (circa 1995 - 1999) PT70 P-trim turbo. If you carefully unbolt the compressor cover and measure the inducer of the compressor wheel, it will either be a 70mm or maybe an even older 68mm compressor wheel. Back in the day, the PT70 originally had a 68mm compressor wheel. If 68mm, it's good for around 750-760 flywheel hp maxed out, if 70 P-trim, it's good to around 755 - 765 flywheel hp maxed out. That is the older TE series compressor cover with a larger inlet bell machined and pressed onto the inlet. The second generation H cover was originally a Holset casting that had a 4" inlet and a 3" discharge. The current H cover that has the Precision Turbo logo casted in, came out in late 2005/early 2006. It also has a 4" inlet and 3" discharge, but is slightly bigger in A/R. Yes, compressor covers have A/R ratios too.
