I think its 2 cups sugar, 1 cup water, and 1 teaspoon of Boric Acid. Doesn't seem to be working though.

Does anyone know the correct water/sugar/boric acid ratio?

I can't remember now..... :(

Try the adjust to taste ratio.:D

Hmmm...Not too sweet.....Not too sour, but JUS RIGHT YAH!:D

LOL! Gerold are'nt you suppose to be holding you sign right now?

Geoff before you kill over tasting the boric acid try the diazinon mixed with water and sprayed outside you house.

You can try this and might not sounds like it will work but I bought this Glade plug in air freshener with the fan and what it does is circulate the scented air around my kitchen (when the ants are usually are) I had it in for 2 weeks now and no trace of any ants. I have been battline the ant problems for like 5 years now. The diazinon work for like one month, also good to kill roaches and centipedes.

Since you guys are of NO HELP AT ALL, I'll have to do it by trial and error. :D

Jackson, I'll bring you some later, after I've "perfected the ratios".

Works awesome! On ALL types of ants....:)

What scent Glade air freshener did you use?

Hey, doesn't this thread belong in the JYD section with the rest of the "what the heck is this and who the heck cares" threads.:D

"I'm having a major problem with ants and I don't know what to do".:( I left some food out again and they're all over the kitchen. Tas kite! ;)

You know what I do... I take your every day can of anything semi combustible (Lysol, hairspray, works good) lighter, face toward insect problem and VOOF!

Problem solved:cool:

It's working now.... Added 1/2 cup more of water. Try it out for yourself. Works great. Just put it in a small container, like the kind you get for salad dressing. The ants will take it back to the nest, and die there.

Hey Geoff, There's this product out on the market "Terro Ant Killer" something like that...it's essentially the same thing that you're cooking up. Anyhoo...the inactive ingredient is 94.6% (sugar and water) and the active ingredient is 5.4%. Well, I take that back...the active ingredient is sodium tetraborate decahydrate (not boric acid) and it has in parenthesis "borax." Hmmm? I wonder if a can of Borax would have that same ingredient?

My question to you is, how's your brew working? Based on this OTC products ratio, 1 teaspoon doesn't sound like much. 3 1/2 cups is 28 ounces sooo...if the 28 ounces represents the 94.6%, then 5.4% comes out to be 1.6 ounces. I know you don't want to put too much chemical otherwise it'll act like a repellant and the ants won't bother with it. Oh, this is based on fluid ounces I'm sure it's different if you go by weight or volume.

Another delivery method is to make a batch of poison similar but with peanut butter. Use one of them frosting cone applicators and inject it into straws (pack it into a grease gun if you desire). Cut the straws into 2" sections and scatter them wherever the ants roam. stew (Pest Control Operator; not in practice)
