Antenna Question

Just installed A new stereo in the "T". The old stereo that was in it did not get radio reception. After removing stereo, found that it had a made up antenna jack coming from the back of the old stereo. Also found the antenna wire(power antenna) was cut and left under the dash. I extended the cable into the new unit and it only gets reception when my fingers are on the splice. The power antenna goes up, but like i said reception is bad. Anybody have some solution to this? Do I need to get an antenna booster? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Though you extended the cut wires, are you certain you extended all of them?

I can't say with certainty, but I installed an aftermarket power antenna in my '87 MCSS. Not only do I recall it having the cable that plugs into the back of the head unit, but there were also a red and green wires, and a black ground wire to operate the power extension.

I will check that out, I only extended the antenna cable. Thanks for the input.
