well since my buddy has a problem to post, i'll post my latest too. I just put on a new accufab 65 mm. throttle body, ported and polished the stock plenum to 65 mm, and the car drove nice. When I pull'd back in the garage, the car was stinking pretty bad like burnt something or rather, the alternator was smoking. Well me being me, I still drove it out to the local car show, got home, parked it, went to start it, and it was dead. I know the alternator is dead, but the car started running like crap on the way home. It back fired and sputtered real bad at wot, was it the alternator didnt have enough volts to supply the electric system since it was going to crap>?

also, when I do replace the alt. I dont have a scan master, but which color wires do you set the tps with? what color goes to pos. and which to neg. on a voltohmmeter????? thanks.

Must have good voltage on the turbo regals. Otherwise, popping, bucking, etc.

Buy/find/rent/borrrow a real scan tool, ASAP.

Thanks

thanks guys. I do need a scan tool, too bad somebody would'nt trade me my cragars for one! i'll change the alt. later.

You can easily measure TPS voltage with a good digital voltmeter.

TPS ground would be the black wire terminal C at the connector.

TPS output would be the dark blue wire terminal B at the connector.

The other terminal is the power and would read +5 volts to a good ground with the meter.

new alt.

I replaced the alt. today, it must have needed one for a year! runs 100% better. now the only problem is when I adjusted the tps to 4.6 on wot, the car wouldnt start? adjusted it to feel, started right up and ran fine? wtf

Did you adjust it for idle as well as WOT? There are two settings to setup. Idle is .40-.46 volts, WOT (someone pressing pedal, not you on the linkage) is supposed to be 4.55-4.85.
