Is there any easy way to find a vacuum leak?

When I step on it (not even WOT), the boost jumps to about 22-27 and there's major knock. (I love the boost, hate the knock!!!) The last time this happened was caused by a cracked vacuum line at the wastegate.

I've lowered the boost as far as the adjustment rod will let me!! It's usually set at 17-18 (usual mods running thrasher chip)!!!

I've checked visually all the hose and everything seems OK!! Could it be something else??

thanks

I assume you have a scan tool. Try blowing propane at the hoses, TB gasket, EGR valve, etc., while watching your O2 readings. If you encounter a vacuum leak, the O2 voltage will rise.

How long ago did you fix the cracked vacuum line at the wastegate? Did you reinstall the Y backwards by mistake?

The easiest and safest way to find a vacuum leak on the motor is with a spraybottle of water. You will here a definite miss if there is one.
Is your puck stuck?? also unplug the wastegate selenoid if you still have one and see if it drops off. I had an overboost problem once and the guys here on the board directed me to the size of the restricted side of the Y connection. It was too small. I think the proper size is .030.

Thanks for all the help...

Found the problem today... it was a cracked vacuum line to the wastegate.

thank... dave

ps: I tried to propane but that didn't work... I guess it was because it was the wastegate hose!!!!
