It is a great product.
Awesome actually.
Extremely simple
And what I consider to be very, very affordable.
And you gotta hand it to Escort - they make very fine equipment - and have hung in there - always have.
Speaking of affordable - it struck me how I'm like everyone else - thousands upon thousands of dollars in performance upgrades -and nada in theft prevention or recovery.
So I redirected my budget for a while and determined to provide myself with some measure of peace of mind.
Several thousand dollars to be exact...several!

Not that you can ever rest easy.
And there are a couple of nice and unique places on a TR to conceal the escort.
Glass not being one of them.
I'm going to keep it quiet for now and not post in the public forum the best, and least obvious place I found to put it.
But it gives a great shot at the sky, and yet - you'd never think it was there.
There is also a couple of custom add-ons I did to the Escort that give it better reception and longer battery life in the event they cut the battery - which they usually do.
Layer it with another more well known theft-recovery device (not sayin' names but its lo and it's a jack w/ early detection for $995) and you have a very good theft recovery system.
The one weak link in the Escort armor is parking garages, so time is of the esssence to pinpoint vehicle location before they stash it.
Always - always - always carry your cell phone and set iphone alerts to max volume and obnoxious sounds if your car is not in sight, and of course, the fob.
The thugs and low lifes of the trade know the tricks - as any good craftsman would - so they sometimes head for a nearby parking garage or a pretermined warehouse (think rental units) and cool it.
Lojack can then pick up where the Escort leaves off, sending a beacon signal alowing police to get a transponder fix even if it is stashed in a garage or parking deck.
There is also another layer I have added that relies of inexpensive cell phone technology and am keeping it quiet for now.
That's three layers for theft recovery.
Added to 6 layers of anti-theft on the car.
10 layers if it's in the garage.
11 if the truck is parked in the driveway!

Not counting the denver boot I take on road trips.
They way I look at the cost - coming from someone who had a normal Kia Rondo stolen at night; right from under my nose while I was in the house;in a quiet cul-de-sac street; in a quiet suburb of Atlanta - what's a broken heart cost?
Because mine would be if it got stolen.
Not irretrievably - but for a while.
I liked that Rondo alot - it ws my family's car - and it has never been recovered either.
I was in a daze for a couple of months in disbelief.
How many times have you read threads in the stolen forum from guys who are obviously hurting - but admitted they "should have had this - or should have done that" - but didn't.
So, I have done everything I can think of - and always thinking or researching new measures.
That's about all you can do - short of taking the wheels off everytime you go somewhere.
Or never going anywhere.
But to the topic - the Escort is great.
3 days shipping - 2 wires and you're in business.
More wires with my little add-ons but that's me.
