I was watching a report about this on G4. They said that the wording of the new policy was causing more of a problem then the actual new policy.

They changed the policy because they felt it was better way to deal with all the user's media. If a person would delete their account everything that person uploaded or wrote would have to be deleted. With the new policy they now own that media and wouldn't have to delete it if you was to delete your account.

I was invited to join twice. Once by a friend and the other by my daughter in law. I told them, "I'll pass!"

I don't know all that much about it, but I have seen many people get into trouble because of Facebook. Especially teachers. I'm not a teacher, but I used to substitute in chemistry and math. I quit because I couldn't stand the dis-respectful kids.
