well, the good news is, a real hot air was at the beatiful weather day at ATCO today...only thing was, it looked like a frankenstein, beat to crap, junk box for sale on the back of a flat bed. The nice guy started it up for Herb Fishman and I and let us snoop around. If anyone is interested, I didnt get a number, but I am sure this guy will be back to other events. Details: 1985 Grand National?
Car has several new parts on the nose...looks like a front end collision. One motor mount is definately broken, as can be seen when the car idles and the motor rocks up and down. There is an exhaust leak on the pass side under the collector, looks like a header crack. The body is in rough shape, and needs all new paint to be at all presentable. Tires are old, but has 86-87 rims, no center caps. 2 1/2 inch DP, and 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust out to the rear..DP looks a little iffy, but I think a good cleanup would make it a little more presentable. Engine compartment is dirty, missing the intake emblem. Car has all sorts of badges on it. Intercooled GN emblem on drivers side, t-type on pass side with turbo 6, regular GN emblem on deck lid. Trunk looks to be in rough shape, and a spoiler was added to it. Out of 10, I give the car a 4. It runs, and has a minor drip of oil on the cross over...Did not see the car drive...Guy would not take it off the flatbed. As for offers, the guy seemed pretty dead set on 4500 cash for the car...I dont think he knows much about our cars, but I am sure with a bit of elbow grease and a good mechanics opinion in front of this guy, and he will sell for 3000 or maybe even less.
I think he is a local to ATCO or the surrounding area, so maybe a quick breeze through the want ads and it may be in there...
As for the races, there were some fast buicks, and some fast fords!! I wish you all could be there!
