Anyone out there notice a round plastic disc with "SH" cast into it, on their frame member that goes over the rear axle(in the wheel well)? Any idea on what it represents(if anything) ?

I've seen some cars with it and some others without it...I bought mine new and it doesn't have it...I haven't got the slightest idea what they're for...

Excellent TR trivia, dude. Is there a prize?

HS stands for Harvest Store (actually, Harvestore). A.O. Smith, yes that A.O. Smith, the guys who make the beautiful, deep blue silos you see dotting the countryside from coast to coat, made our frames.

Now how's that for knowledge?

Happy New Year!

ROTF-LMAO That's great for the ones w/HS, but mines got, "SH". I suppose I could offer a one way ticket to Warsaw, Poland..... Happy New Year back atcha. ;)

Depending on how you look at it HS or SH is probably the same thing ;) flip it one way or the other.

I figure they had the frame right-side-up when they put these on, and (when I'm not standing on my head) they read,"SH". I'm hoping there weren't others that had,"IT" on 'em and they fell off  !!

That is frame ID code. The SH or HS is the code for 86-87 Regal with LC2/MW9/FE3. The 84-85's have a different code as do all of the other G-bodies depending on the powertrain and suspension options. If you were to look at a build sheet you would see one of the 100 or so boxes would have the HS on it. Sorry I dont have a breakdown of what the code should be(SH or HS) because I dont have a copy of any turbo build sheets. After many years of junk yarding and parting out of cars I have found at least 6 different frames styles and it appears that the 86-87 TR frame is one of the beefiest G-body frames out there. Lots of extra reinforcing. Possibly the metal is a thicker gauge too.

I was hoping it was "super heavy" or something like that. Too bad they didn't include better brakes in the package! ;)
