Haven't seen any posts recently on Jay's propane kit. Just wondering if any fellow TB guys have any input from it. I am veery interested in the kit and looking for some feedback from Buick owners. TIA

You know how it is Jay, most guys here wait for others to work the kinks out of something new before they jump in. I think it is a nice deal but my alky kit will hold me over for a while, since I still need an exhaust system, injectors, blah blah, before I can go propane

I am ordering mine in the AM on Tuesdayfrom O.G.S. I am also going to get it next day so I can play with it over the Holidays.

Add 1 more to your list Jay!

I do have a question for ya...I have a Jim Testa 93 OCtane 22* 22 degree alky chip...Any Ideas on this will work with my new Propain set up?

Here are some details on my car.
TE-44,009's.Powerstroke front mount with 3" plumbing, ported headers, 3"dp, 2 1/2" atr ss exhaust with pit bull mufflers, 160 thermo, AFPR, 3200 convertor, 340 pump hot wired and other suspension stuff.

I am also going to be documenting the install with photos and should have them up on a website shortly after it is completed.

I have one of Jay's kits sitting here right beside me.
It's really nice. And the instructions even make sense.
Just need some warmer weather.

LOL.. then you know I didnt write them ;) Actually I did and Dan did some heavy proofreading and added some stuff I left out.

Steve, as far as your chip, it should be fine. I really haven't been able to find a situation this stuff doesn't work well in. It does seem to have a problem with realy high timing but for 93/100 octane chips, it seems to work great.

I'm curious to see just how high people can get their boost (Excluding Mr PSI Bruce) because we maxed out the physical limits of the actuator with both of our test cars. 24 PSI was it. We couldn't get it any higher. Hopefully a high boost actuator is in their future.

I'm planning on getting one of these kits once I get another job.... having no $$ and wanting to go fast sucks....

Hehehe.
24,

Must be running on 87.
I know I'm a PITB.

I am seriously considering this add-on.

And here is why:

1) I spent ~$150 in race/high octane fuel last year.
2) This kit is ~$855… which will equal a few seasons race fuel.
3) I spent hours changing the parameters of the car to suit race fuel (draining fuel, rechiping & ECM relearning, & guessing actuator rod lengths to get 20-21psi and burning expensive fuel in the process). & Changing it all back for the drive home.
4) Not having to do #3.
5) This kit offers me the much needed advantage of running on pump gas all the time, which is better in terms of availability for road racing. Plus the added bonus of full time high boost.
(all prices in CDN)

Now for my one issue:

The high timing chip problem.

This is bad because I have a recent JC110 that I have used but twice at the track. I’d hate to sell it because I can’t use it. I suppose I can use the cash to help pay for the kit.

But, that is life.

I have one question for Jay:

The variable timing chip settings will still work well with this, correct? What with the increased timing in low boost situations.

TIA,

Variable timing stuff will work fine.

The race chip MAY work okay at lower boost. The only testing we did was really brief and was at like 24 PSI so that was probably asking a lot from anything but straight race gas. At 20 PSI, it may have been fine.

I did a chip with 22-23 degrees (I forget now) for Turbo Tim and it worked out great for him so I would think that you could drop the boost slightly to accomodate higher timing.

There's some of those in another thread also.
