hey guys, i have also been having to keep turning my start over before the car starts, and when it does it has a little smoke build up. the guy with the mustang said to try some dry gas, b/c there could be moisture in the lines or something. have any of you guys ever used this and does this sound right? the guy is actually not to bad, until he start talking with his as-.

What would it take for a 98 5speed mustang gt with exhaust and intake to beat this?

Quite a bit of money "invested" in it. Or some uncanny luck.

When its colder than 40 degrees out with snows on dry pavement my saab does it at the top end of 1st and 2nd, the top of 2nd gear is 60mph.:D

Peg legger here too and mine will haze them good at 40-45 MPH. That of course is with mods listed below and at 25 PSI 93 octane street trim with alky. Should I ever decide to run mine (on track), I definitely need a posi and will work towards that in the near future. I layed waste to a Mustang GT about like you described several months ago and it was really ugly real quick. I'd say you'd take him with your mods listed. He'd need NAWS or ever how they say it to make it close. One thing I learned quick is not to kick my car on wet roads! Quite a hand full. Think he wants to meet Grandma's street sleeper TR all chromed out with padded vinyl top?
hey evan,
do you think that we can hook up to take a look at each others cars? also maybe you can help me out with mines and let me know how its running. I have direct scan too, but need a new laptop.

with my first gn i could break the tires loose and fish tale at 60mph.i learned this while racing a saleen on i76 and smoking him!these cars produce LOTS of tourque and that is what makes us MOVE!:D

Since I'm local to Charles, I'll give a look out to help him tune for this Mustang. Maybe we can also enlist other locals as Rob Woodruff and Turbo Todd. We want his GN to be as strong as it can be. No need to rush into things...

Todd or Rob: will one of you add to this thread and vouch for me that my car and can haze the right rear tire from a 40 MPH kick to give me credibility as both of you have witnessed this??

Right now, she won't do that unless I want to go to blown HG city! I have my SMC alky tank out and sent back to Steve for maintainence. Must drive gingerly!!!

Depending on the car, tires and asphalt type it is very possible.Hand him his A$$ asap before someone warns him and spoils your fun.

STANG

TELL HIM TO COME TO SILVER DOLLAR ON SEPT,12 AND I WILL PUT SOMETHING ON HIM THAT AJAX WONT GET OFF.

11.70's @ 116

With cheap worn out tires 235/60's I could not go WOT in 1st or 2nd. I would spin at 55 - 60 mph. It was easy to manage but if I were to hit it at 30 - 40 it would sometimes start spinning so bad that it would keep spinning in 3rd - that would get scary.

With my new DR's, I can feel them grind on the street and see marks in the rv mirror if I hit it at 40 mph and hold it to about 60.

With good tires they may spin slightly, with old worn tires it is a definate possibility.

Also, with the mods that I have do you think its possible?

mods - 70mm throttle body, ported/polished aluminium heads, 7 step adj. chip, adj. boost control, adj. boost a spark, 3 " exhaust, cold air intake, front mount intercooler and a few other goods, also with stock turbo and injectors.

You won't be able to do it at 50 with your mods. You'll need more power/turbo/converter to do it. Once tuned you should be able to do it at 35 w/o problems and maybe 40 with free flowing exhaust.
I still run the factory exhaust (3" DP & no cat) and 35 is easy for me but 40 is out of reach even with race fuel and 23psi.

ks:cool:

My car would just about always spin at anything under 55. I always had C-16 in the tank. When it would downshift from 3rd to second and hit 24 PSI all hell would break lose. I had lost of mods T-62, 9 1/2 inch convertor, ported heads and just about ever other bolt on.

I don't fry the tires at 50, but it does break loose. If i launch off idle on the street, it will spool up and break loose mid way through 1st, hit 2nd and grab traction and then break loose again right around 45-50 mph. This is with 275/50 nitto drs. The car was way to scary with regular street tires. In street trim my car pulls 405 horse and 545 torque if that helps any.

I only have a 307 and I can chirp the tires above 45mph when the car upshifts after I punch it. Guess that would be the 1-2. It's not just the power of the car but the trans is going to have a lot to do with it.

LOL..We're not talking about a chirp, we're talking about boiling the tires from a 50mph roll..;)

My stock block 135mph motored T type would spin the 28.5 X10.5 Firestone slicks at 60mph. Kind of scary the first time. Cool every time after that :D

If this guy can't understand why you need a front mount and a 3" exhaust, then he most certainly would not understand much of what goes on here. Every trans we build is driven prior to shipping. If it doesn't break the tires loose on a 50mph roll, Bruce is back in making adjustments. They do do it, and on a regular basis. I do love the Mustangs, but when someone is in denial about what a slightly altered GN can do, I hang my head in shame wondering why a person has such a narrow vision and appreciation for a good piece of mechanical engineering. Mark :D :D

To me it seems there are alot of people on here in denial, or can not drive. It doesn't take 500 hp to break tires loose at 50mph.
