any suggestions installing a new turn signal switch?

this is the circular plastic piece with the wires that is one unit and has a harnes connector on the end of it. The wire length is about 18 inches. does the steering whee come off to install? thankx!

the turn switch stalk has a wire lead with a pc style blade , that connector has a small hole
pull old switch stalk out of the column and cut the wire close to the stalk , strip the end of the wire . push the wire through the hole in new switch connector and twist it tight , remove the lower hush panel and find the old wire then you can pull the new the cable down to bottom off column using the old wire .
