Trans shifts over 5500 rpm. I'm sure this is too high for a car with mild ported heads and a 204/214 cam. Only mods is a 30 dollar shift kit and a 3200 10" lu stall

SignUp Now!His driveshaft speed vs engine speed is probably too low because of the converters coupling efficiency.Make the small weight on the governor heavier to lower shift points. There may be other things going on why it is shifting higher than stock, assuming you have a BR-F trans.

Yes Brian, I would agree, this would be one of the other things that could be a cause of the higher shift points. Many of the available 3200 stall 10" lockups using off the shelf parts will push thru the shift points some due to the driveshaft speed vs. engine speed being too low from poor converter efficiency (20% typically) at the engine speed we use them. That converter will start to couple much higher than most Buick v6 engines max rpm. (5600-5800)His driveshaft speed vs engine speed is probably too low because of the converters coupling efficiency.
It's a stock brf with a transgo kit. I can't remember exactly what was all changed but I can check and post later. The T.V. modulator upshift valve spring #315 should be removed from the valve body. No spring should be installed at this location. What valve body and governor combo are you using?
Hmm. Doesn't seem to be good at this point. Got like a metallic "whirring" sound that only stops when I shift into gear and then lightly begins to make noise again. Shifts don't seem as crisp as they were but they do seem slightly better when the trans is cold. I didn't get a chance to go wot in the car since I had my daughter with me. I'm thinking either something broke or it's about to. The trans isn't acting erratic or anything. Any more things to investigate or possibilities? The gears aren't slipping or lazy. Just don't hit anymore. Feels like a regular 200 at this point.
Most likely won't have time tomorrow. I should wednesday but it won't be til around 5pm if that's ok. Oh I forgot to mention, shortly after I posted this thread the trans cavitated on the 2-3 shift, freespun for a split second and slammed into 3rd going wot. Weird thing is there wasn't any noises or anthing until the next night.
If just the 1-2 check tv upshift or shift delay oil land on the 1-2 tv valve for ware or sleeve for leakage.
Mine is too high just on the 1-2. Will talk with Jimmy about this leakage possibility.
My pile is shifting 5950 on the 2-3 but the 1-2 is way too late, over 6400? Not sure how high cus it hit the rev limiter @ 6300 on the 1-2.....
BR governor with a KC valve body. PTC 9.5" non lock. 132mph++ power level. Trans is super fresh, first WOT pull.
Any other possibilities for a late 1-2?
Thanks DaveA BR governor with a KC valve body will shift around 6500-6600+. Add 2 grams to the governor small weight and work from there. I recommend manually shifting the 2-3...
