just curious if they were able to track test the TA block equipped car on friday or were they not able to make it out there? Just really looking forward to how they do:cool:

Forgot all about it. Wonder how they made out or maybe they aren't back yet. Will host clips if you have them!

If these guys did not make it out to the track it looks like they would have posted something since everyone is waiting on some track times. Maybe they had some problems. The Arizona club guys are on here everyday. Whats the story?

Maybe Nick decided to wait until he gets the HRpartsNstuff motor mounts rather than taking a chance with the stock mounts that he modified.... That's my best guess....

Sorry I missed this thread to give an update.

Friday night did not turn out well mainly due the weather. Wind was bad and made track conditions slick enough to run only 1/8th mile times.

That, and a tranny leak, did not even allow any good tuning runs. Will try to do some tuning before we go to Carlsbad, CA this Saturday. There we should have much cooler weather and will be enjoying the test and tune time. Track conditions are lousy with almost NO prep, so will settle for some full passes.

Paul has his TA motor mount ready for shipping. Will have mine in a couple weeks, but not concerned with stock mounts as I also have a tie down at the trans. bellhousing. The TA block has a tapped hole for a clutch ball I use for a fabricated bracket to the frame.

Now that we heard why it didn't do good lets hear what it did do.
Thanks, Kip

Realisticly are we not wanting to know for reliabilty purposes? As far as it being an V6 turbo, THe block is not going to be the reason it makes more power, But is he using the new heads on it?
Then curiosity opens up to the power it will make.

Yes he's using the new heads (TA Street Eliminators 1.94"/1.60" valves)....

Good point Kip. Conditions are not always ideal when you head to the track. I would be interested in the performance in the not so ideal conditions and lack of tune on a new motor that we all face with a new combo and then an update once it is dialed in. How did it compare to the other buick turbos running that night?

Some of you guys are getting a little stupid.:(

No way in hell am I taking a complete new combo, on a marginal track, with a new FAST program, and do a MAX run to satisfy internet a few observers.

It may take one or 10 trips to the track to have it dialed in for max performance. I will NOT chance any damage to a VERY expensive and lengthy project to rush into a "best time" at this point.

It is now at about 20 psi boost and will be gradually increased according to data gathered as we go. Whatever time it takes, I am going about this in my usual, methodical manner.

I have patience, so I suggest others that don't, just chill.:)

P.S. Dic Kereny's mid-8 sec. GN ran low 10's that night sliding around. Pro stock car only made a 660' run.

ta engine,

nick, it takes a lot of pateince, i just got the new engine old stage two off center running , the new set up is totall different than what we have run before, cal hartline is sending me a program for this engine, we are going to the track tonite for test and tune and they dont spray the track so it will be slick, and ill probaly only make 660 ft runs, good luck go at it slow and im sure you will get to where you are going, after all we are getting old. oc,

Nick I don't think anybody is asking you to go push it for a best run, in your first reply it appears at least to me that the car did get to go down the 1/8 mile and i think thats what people are wanting to know. How did it run that night even if it was no where in the realm of what its capable of. We've all started off with new combos so i don't think anybody would give up on it after its first track debute.

I can see that same thing happining here also, I have a completely different setup than last years, bigger turbo, motor, poted heads, bigger cam, different trans and convertor. My first track outing may be good or bad, Many bugs im sure will need to be iron out, SO im renting the track for a day and making sure its prepped. so i can dial it in the first day if no problems are found.
I have all intentions of running 3-+ #s of boost thru this combo if the turbo is efficient enough, But im not gonna do it the firtst time out.Ill wait for Buicks at e-town the end of next month:D

I hope Nick and Odell both take it easy, with their brand new combos. I just sent them both FAST programs and can't guarantee how close I got the program.
IMO, both of those engines are too expensive to be taking any chances with.
