I think, but I'm not sure, that I've seen these in-dash receivers that have DVD players and screens built in. The screen slides out, like a CD/DVD tray on your PC, and then flips up for viewing.
Anybody ever seen anything like this? If so, what is the brand name of it?
What other options are there for installing a DVD player and screen in a turbo Regal?
My buddy that works for Kicker has one in his Buick that competes IASCA and USAC. He also has it set up with a PC that has on board internet access from anywhere his car is at. Go to the Kicker website and see if they have the pics of his Buick up yet, I know they where in the process of having all the pics of the interior and exterior up on the site.
Alpine is one company that has or did have the flip out face screen from the head unit.
Kenwood also has a din and a half unit that has the flip out face screen. Its the KVT-910DVD DVD/CD Receiver that has a nifty price tag of $2,800.00 on this unit .

audiowizard,2800 is pretty expensive.at my local electronics shop they have it for 1999.it also includes a 300watt amp with it.i go there about once a week to get stuff and i just keep hoping that they lower the price enough so i can afford to get it.
I am not too concered with DVD but I would like to install a Navigation System in my Daily Ride.
My Boss has a 2001 Acura CL with Factory Navi, I think its Alpine that makes it. Its touch screen and talks to you. SWEEEET I would buy the car just for that...
The Prices are still high on this stuff so I'll wait but I like that better than a DVD player.
He just purchased an adapter that allows him to hook up the new Slim Pioneer DVD to the Factory Navi Screen....

Another option is to buy a tablet computer...ala Fujitsu Stylistic and hook up a PCMCIA / USB DVD player to it. I recently bought an old IBM 730TE tablet for running TurboLink off eBay for $175...but it has a monochrome screen.
I've seen some pretty nice Stylistics on eBay in the $250-$400 range which would work.
Go to http://www.earthlcd.com/ and check out some neat LCD screens. You could hide a laptop under the seat and install a small LCD in the dash for a LOT less than $2800.
Using a laptop or tablet computer also allows you to use any other program (navigation/mapping) you want. There are even PCMCIA GPS cards that work with the navigation software.
You can pick up one of these for a fraction of the price. This is a or use to be a flip down tv with a vcr where my ask tray use to be. I had to do some major cutting and messing around with all the trim peices to make this fit as well as cut the tv out of the flip down unit, since the unit would not fit with the t-tops there. This has a very nice picture.
No flames on the wheel, its gone and a nice leather one is on the way.
