SignUp Now!The processor is an AMD Phenom. It's a quad core (4 effective processors) on a chip sharing a common memory subsystem. It uses AMD's 10h architecture. 10H has a floating point unit that is twice as wide as standard x86 chips so if you're doing lots of SSE instructions it can be anywhere from 1.1 to 1.6 X faster
I don't have one. But after reading the post above, I might get one. All of that sounded good to me.The processor is an AMD Phenom. Yeah AMD just officially unveiled the 6 core Istanbul server chip today in fact. Things are looking encouraging at AMD currently; we seem to have a pretty competitive roadmap, and we have some good products coming out. And of course our integrated graphics continue to whip the 800 lb gorilla's best by far, tgOur next gen mobile stuff (Tigris platform) should be pretty competitive on performance and battery life. And of course, ours sells for less.
I support HP on mobile product designs. Recently was able to informally compare Vista performance scores of one of the new Tigris platform machines (on sale soon) to a current core duo mid range machine at the local hair salonWas pleasantly surprised to see the Tigris significantly outscore the core duo system in each performance category. Again, it should be a good, competitive product.
JMO. YMMV.
