Its a T04E14 .70mm Garret turbo off a 7.8L Ford Diesel. The numbers Ive gathered from this Turbo are:

466290-9017S T04E14 Ford E8HZ6K682CRM

Has anybody heard or used this turbo?? How would it do on a GN Engine w/ some supporting mods? and perhaps the stock IC?? Here is the only pic I have of it so please dont laugh!!
Chris

"Dude, they put that turbo on an engine with three times your displacement for a reason. Even with both banks at peak airflow I bet you wouldn't get that monster above 60,000 RPM and your efficiency would be no more than 50%. It would probably rob you of power due to the backpressure and the intake restriction!"

FOund this on a site for Ford Turbo Coupe's.

More to follow.

The a/r on that turbine is huge, but the ford is a 4 banger.

"Measured the compressor wheel after removing the intake housing and the outside diam of the wheel was 74.93mm and the small diam of the wheel was 50.8mm. Amazingly, this matched up nearly perfectly to the T4E-46 trim.
Pretty mild turbo -- but it will do for starter"

"Its a t04e, looks like the ford heavy truck diesel version, I run a similar turbo, it won't be a hi-fi or a 60-1, those are t04b configurations, it will be a trim like 46, 50, 57, 60 or something like that, measure the comp wheel and it will give you the trim number in mm, then I can give you map for it, some of the ford oem designs were crosses, they had a 57 inducer size but a 60 trim exducer size..Max"

I can't find a whole lotta info on this turbo other than it most likely came out of an F800. Ranging in hot side A/R of .83 , 1.00. 1.25.

You would need some stall to push it. You would need fuel to feed it, and lotsa dough to do it.

Sorry I can't help, but someone will chime in.

Good luck.

Wait....You are on the formula forums. I saw that whole post. Thought you were considering that for a TB. Adding to the cost of a retrofit to an F-body - I would get a turbo from a supporting vendor for that LC2 you bought.

Post pics of that motor you got here. I didn't want to register on that site just to see'um, plus I know nothing about birds.

The LC2 I bought, I got locally for $800. I also got a harness, pcm w/ an unknown chip, GN Manifolds, Intercooler, shroud, and alot more stuff. The engine has been torn down by me. It has ARP Head bolts, Con. Rod bolts. Also, has an Erson Cam & Springs, as well as a Kenne Bell Upper intake and TB. Here a few pics before the teardown and one of the Bird its going in.

Im also on LS1Tech & Third Gen under the same name.

You are going to scare the crap out of some people with that. They will never see it coming. Welcome to the dark side!

Thats what Im shooting for, I want to run the stock exhaust w/ a cutout on it. Stealth mode!! I'll likely use the stocker since its there and I will have less fab work. I'll most definatly upgrade someday!!

quick question, in the pic of the engine with the valve springs installed, are those the stock valve springs?? I took the valve covers off of my car and noticed the valve springs look very different, springs have a sort of metal retainer looking pice around each one. I know most people upgrade valve springs when they start to up performance and was wondering if maybe the previous owner may have modded it. thanks, Nick.

I dont know anyway to tell. I assumed mine were aftermarket b/c of the aftermarket camshaft. This is my 1st buick engine so I dont know!!

I like your car. The wheels really work for it. Nice!

Thanks, I got them originally for my old 99 Z28 but I totalled that car & the insurance company allowed me to put the stock wheels back on it. A 2001 Trans Am rear end and front 2" wheel adapters allow me to use them. Now its time for a slight lowering as well as front brake upgrade!!
