Anybody know where to sell an antique piccolo (spelling)

It is a 2 piece unit that is wooden with brass/metal keys in the origional carrying case. My wife inherited this and another family member of hers inherited one as well.

It is from the 1800's era. We have no clue where to sell this out here in the sticks and have no way of knowing it's actual value?

We also have lots of old sheet music from that era as well as an origional pair of leather baby shoes in a wooden box made in NYC at that same time.

YellowPages or Google, look for antique shops that offer appraisals in your area. Maybe they will want to buy it or have an idea on where you could sell it, and there's always eBay. But I would get it appraised so you know what to ask for $$.

learn about what you have . My wife had an old Violin that was made in Minnisota by a Dr.. Went to a lady that deals in old string instruments and she had a bood on Minnisota violin makers. Look for markings ,names on the instrument , what ever you do don't try and clean it leave it s is as most collectors like the patena of the metal to be natural and the wood leave alone too. Find out if it's american or german made, our son used to play the Obo and it is amazing what you learn and find when you do some research. We had one that was made in the Czech Republic by a Family that made them for 3 generations.a nice one we found at a pawn shop. The more you learn or research on the instrument,the more you know what to ask for it. It may not be worth much but then it may be worth some money and I'd hate to see you give it away, it maybe a special piece.
