I had these as a kid and now I want my kids to have them as well.

We have a lab/chow mix that is a GREAT dog but is getting up in years.

I want to get a pup for her to "train" for a year or so before she is gone.

Post Away:biggrin:

TIA

Ty

Holy Crap he looks like sasquatch:eek:

watch German Shepards !!! they can be real mean  Our dog has never had to deal with small kids . Sister in law came over last week with her 2 year old grand daughter .. Dog just looked at her for a few minutes.. She did the same .... then he walked over to "his" toy box and started to drag every damm toy he had so she would play with him  He is also getting up there in years .. think he is 11 now.. never had a shepard live that long .. maybe because of the life he lives!!! I'd like to trade places :p

Just got a Shepard/ lab mix a few weeks ago. She is very smart for a pup. I had a Full pure bred Long haired Shepard, but had to put him to sleep when he was 2 1/2 years old. My inlaws had a Slant back Shepard and he died suddenly at 7 years old. The blood lines have been tainted some where down the lines and they are not the dogs they use to be. They come with major problems. Hip problems, kidny problems, bloot, heart problems, just to name a few. Mutts are the way to go, IMHO. Here she is. Her name is Diesel.

EXcept for the spay neuter part I hope!! :o

The barber shop I go to the guy has a great looking white shep. Man what a good temprament too.
I always wanted a German Shepard. Had a Rottweiler that lived to 13! He was the best ever and probably wouldnt get another like him.

I've got a 14 month old Rottie now. But I've had 4 German Shepherds, and absolutly love them! I only wish they had the lifespan of a human. GREAT dogs!
Good luck in finding a new baby, and don't let that rediculously long muzzle push you around to much.

Chloe

Had my first one from when I was born untill I was
13 solid white 100 lbs. male.

This is my new baby. Had her for 6yrs.now.
She is very mean. My grandson does everything but ride her.

From the pics I think she is Grumpy's dogs sister

And they make good babysetters.
Get one from a breader not a puppy mill and in 2 yrs.
she or he will be the boss of your house if you let them.
And they are always smarter then you think.

Yup Cimtek Spin On's sell them all:cool:

Now I still need a German Shepard:biggrin:

There is a breeder up by Effinghan,IL pretty reasonable/

The sky is the limit $. But spend what it takes to get a good 10 to15 yr. long best friend. It's the best money you will ever spend. o and till it gets out of the (stage)
Never never leave the dog unattended. A shepard pup
can totally destroy your home. Demand lots or all of
your time and attention

You and your family will love it.

Ever consider a Malinois? If your looking for a dog to train there is none better. All your top KNPV, French Ring, Mondio Ring, etc.... all use mali's. Shorter coat, less sheding. High drive. This breeder has an excellent Malinois program but won't have pups available for sometime later in 2008.

They breed working dogs that are born and raised in a happy, STABLE family (drug free, natural diet) environment and introduced to other dogs, cats, horses, etc... Very stable and reliable breeding program. If your not in a hurry and wan't a quality dog consider this kennel. Not to mention a puppy mali is one of the most adorable creatures you will ever see. Very similar to a GS but smaller and full of them selves with high ball drive and a willingness to protect, train and please.

Browse the website. You will find her training and environment for her dogs second to none. The fact that they don't have litters every month shows that they are very prowd of their breeding program and breed quality not quantity. She works with Leerburg kennels as well. It always amazes me that someone would purchase a daily driver car that will last 4-5 years in a week. Then look for a dog that will bring them a 100 times more joy and protect their family with it's life without really doing their homework and research.

Yup, shepards are great. I have had one for the last 25 years. My current one thinks he is a Golden Retriever. Nothing funnier than watching a 150 pound German Shepard leap 7 feet in the air for a frisbee.
