I know of one for sale with a all running gear except bottle including water cooled torch for $1K. Sounds like a good deal. IS THIS WORTH IT?

And will it run on a 60A breaker if I don't run it full out? Will not likely go over 3/16 steel and chromoly. But I will be welding on some aluminum.

Depends on the condition, but a well-maintained Miller will last a long, long time. IMHO, if you can get a nice Miller or Lincoln AC/DC TIG machine (for 220V) for a grand, with good torch(es) and some consumables (tips, tungstens, etc.), you probably can't lose. I'm after the same deal, lemme know if this guy has more.

60A should work, check their site. They list all of the req's. If you're doing stuff over 3/8" thick, you'll probably be doing multiple passes anyway, so I wouldn't sweat that.

'later...

If its in good shape and comes with torches, cables, foot control, etc and you can get it for a grand jump on it with both feet. Its an even sweeter deal if comes equipped with the liquid cooling system.

We've got a 350lx at work that I use but I cant swallow the price for something I'll only use two or three times a month (not to mention its more welder than I need) but like you Im looking at picking up a 250.....if I can find one.

I did most of my learning on a sync250, great machines. If it works properly and has been taken care of buy it.
