I have two boys 7 and 11 years old. We have recently started geocaching and I had never heard of it until a couple months ago. They love it and are always asking to go out and I have to admit I am just as excited about it as they are.

If you haven't heard of it I will give you the readers digest version. All over the world people have hid small containers and marked the coordinance with a gps and post it on the Internet. You then have to find these objects. It is a high tech version of hide and seek or the hotter/colder game. It is a treasure hunt so to speak. You do get a little more info than just the coordinance. Once you get there you still have to find the cache because it is going to be hidden pretty well. You don't get to keep what you find. You usually just sign the log and replace the cache.

If any of you havent tried this you should. You don't have to have kids to do it but to see the excitement in their eyes when they find the cache will make you smile from ear to ear.

Did I mention it is free? It also gets the kids off the couch and away from the video games while giving them some exercise.

My brother-in-law does geocaching with his kids, and we've gone with them a few times when they are visiting us. I have got a kick out of it. Some of them you really need to look for (or never find)- but the search is fun
(kind of like finding Buick parts at times)
