I worked on one back in '94 at an independant shop. Weird, gutless car. Felt like it was lucky to make 120hp. Only one I had ever seen. Even to this day I have never seen another in person.

I've heard of the Fairmont LX but never this. Being as they were slightly lighter than the Thunderbird, I see no reason the car couldn't be made to boogie.

first I've ever seen one. how cool! ugly, but kinda neat only cause its so rare

Neat find!!

One year only for that beast and all automatics. That thing is dieing for a built 2.3 SVO engine. Here's an old ad from 1980.

i'd say they were more than slightly lighter than a Thunderbird of the same vintage..
like 1000 pounds lighter..

I like the Get set for the 80's in the add. They had no idea

It weighs almost the same as the Mustang. It's based on the Fox body platform so anything you can bolt on to a 79-93 Mustang will work on this car as well. Many Ford fans like to find a plain jane 2 door sedan Fairmont and make it a sleeper.

There's a mid 8 second one running around Oklahoma that looks like something Granny Grunt would drive to the grocery store.

Ditto on the Thunderbirds. Find a wrecked TurboCoupe/XR-7/XR4Ti or (god forbid) SVO donor vehicle and swap everything over. IIRC, the later EFI Turbo cars were rated at the same power levels as the EFI 5.0s year for year.

Of course the 2.3 never made the torque of the 5.0.

That's Cool! I even like the porno-red interior! I had just noticed a 79-82 Mustang turbo-notch gettin drug onto a rollback in one of the kids video's earlier too! You can def. make them little 2.3turbo's go! They don't like alotta boost with stock guts but they don't break the chinsy trannys like the 5.0's did either.;)

Yep, with no cage
Notice he wasn't at Noble this year or ever again cause of it

That guy makes enough money on street racing I bet he's not too worried. I know he smacked around a local guy's really quick big block Chevy + N20 Chevelle a couple years ago at a Cash Days event, this was a car that everybody up here thought was untouchable and the guy that drives that fairmont took his money
