Saw an episode of My Classic Car on Speed a few weekends ago. They were at the most beautiful Cruise location I ever saw. It was called the Adirondack Nats and it sells out every year in as little as 5 days for 1500 cars. The town is over run with cars and it is shut down to all normal traffic for Fri nite ,Sat, and Sun. It looks like a blast. I was just wondering if anyone here has ever attended? I believe it needs to be with an older car, but I wanted to take my 64 Dodge or my 409 car. Didnt want to waste a trip if its not all it was cracked up to be.

Thanks

Is this in Lake George?? My cousin lives near there, and I believe he's talked about going to it. Phil.

Yes that is the "Lake George Show"

I went to it back in 1995 with my 66 Pro street Chevelle and won one of their cool trophies. Aluminum rod and piston with a clock mounted in the large end of the rod.

Bittersweet moment for me as I put the car up for sale at this show and someone bought it. Wife was pregnant and thought it was better to get a more family friendly car so got my GN two weeks later.

Drove the car up there from CT shoreline with some other friends. Cruising the streets was cool back then but the show area during the day was pretty tight. They really cram the cars in and have heard it has got worse over the years but haven't been back since. If you haven't signed up by now you probably won't be able to get into the show but guess you can still do the cruising at nite. Hear the motels have also increased their rates a lot over the years. It IS a beautiful area and worth the trip even if you were to just be a spectator.

"...but the show area during the day was pretty tight. They really cram the cars in and have heard it has got worse over the years..."
and this:
"...If you haven't signed up by now you probably won't be able to get into the show..."
and last, this:
Hear the motels have also increased their rates a lot over the years..."

These are the three main reasons why I'm not interested. Several guys from my area attend that show every year, but they all say the same thing: Too many cars too tightly parked, motel rates skyrocketing and you got to be pre-registered a year in advance...Thanks, but no thanks! Too bad because it's only 4 hours from where I live...

P.S: It's no use going there with a GN because you got to have a pre-'79 car to enter. See here: Adirondack Nationals Official Site

i have been several times and its a blast!!! i just spectate but its great to be around all the beautiful cars and there is tons to do there,i usually stay at one of the beautiful camp grounds and avoid the expensive hotels.

I wish they would allow a GN. I e-mailed the club and asked , since the GN's are a true collector car. Maybe they will make an exception. Ill post the reply for those interested.

Lake George

I go up there every year. Last year we went with our 2 kids and friends with there kids. Lots of stuff to see, the ride around the lake is beautiful. We have never had a problem finding a place to park, but we get there early. We also snuck my 86 GN into the cruise on Saturday night. Lots of "oh my god thats a Grand National!". The cutoff date is 1974 I believe. Weather is usually nice. Lots and lots of cars. Just imagine a whole town of old cars. Probably over 10,000 cars. 1500 just in the car show. We always go for a ride on one of the paddle wheeled steamboats. The kids love going into the engine room of the Minni-Haha. People are great, they love sharing stories of thier cars. Can't wait to get up there this year. I have taken my brothers 64 Wildcat convertible up a few times. Never seen another one up there. Always see cars I have never seen or heard of before. New Mini Cooper with a blown Hemi in it was cool. Love seeing all the old Mopars there.
