Recently had an issue when I tightened gap from .035" to .032" and lost a couple mph in the 1/4. No matter what I did I could not get mph back to where it had just recently been. I have been told that you want as much spark exposed to the mixture as possible without blowing it out due to high boost+poor ignition. I apparently had plenty of spark with .035 and hid the spark by tightening which I am told is considered by some to be a sort of ignition retard. This made sense..........so hense the question, if a big gap is a good thing then has anyone tried anything larger than .035? How about .040"? Wasnt stock gap on '84/85's .060"? So we are waaay below that anyway. If I had no problem with 23psi boost w/ .035 maybe I should see if I could get away with .040".
Any thoughts?
