Anyone Heard Of This Starter??

I have been thinking about a new LT4 starter for my GN. So I got my Dad to check on one (he works at a dealership). He asked a couple of technicians about using them on my car (even though I showed him some posts on here he is always skeptical when I want to modify something).

Any way one of the techs gave him a starter and said it was off his race car. He had it in the original box which has the part number on it and the starter does as well.

The part number is 10455703 I know the LT4 is 709 so what is this one. It doesn't have a nose cone on it and in comparison with stock one it looks like it will work.

Sorry for the long post. :)

google search took me to denso
denso came back as

part # denso # manufacturer
10455703 128000-8111 N/A Chevrolet
but no application

took that #(10455703) to acdelco.com
and came back with the following applications

Year Make Model Engine
1996 CHEVROLET CORVETTE V8 5.7L 350cid GAS FI N Engine VIN = 5
1996 CHEVROLET CORVETTE V8 5.7L 350cid GAS FI N Engine VIN = P
1995 CHEVROLET CORVETTE V8 5.7L 350cid GAS FI N Engine VIN = P

1992 CHEVROLET CORVETTE V8 5.7L 350cid GAS FI N Engine VIN = P

Thanks pacecarta.

So it may be a cross between a LT1 and LT4 so it will probably work unless there is something unique about the Corvette.

Be careful about teeth count. There are 2 identical starters out there, one is for like 45 tooth and one is for like 43 tooth or something like that. They look the same but are not intershangeable. Dont quote me on the actual tooth number because I am not sure, but I know that is the difference. Count the teeth on the starter drive to make sure its the right one.

Part numbers 10455709 and 10455703 are the same starter. Used on 92-96 Corvette LT1 and 96 LT4. They will work. They should have the same tooth count as the LT1 starter from a F or B-body as they all use the same 153 tooth flywheel.

I dont have any idea if the newer LS1 starters will work. Looking at the prices it would be more economical to use the LT1 starter.

i can get 5.3 truck starters for $50, plus theres some arguing room left too. thats why im curious. might have to try it and see if it works
