OK, so I've read on this board numerous times when people call a GN a Monte Carlo...but today I had a different one...someone walked up to me and told me "that's a nice International you have". What the crap is an International????

Yes, a local buddy heard that one from an onlooker of his WE4. When they said, "that's a nice looking International you have" ,he replied "thanks, it's the harvester model". ;)

International is the name they used to call heavy duty grain trucks and some small pick ups, also some semis.

But in the case of the GN, they confuse the words "intercooled" and "national" together. But unlike the Craig Morgan song, they're usually faster than "chug-alug-luggnin 5 miles an hour".

dumb onlookers

I've heard them all. " Nice Grandprix " is funny too

Driving a white monte ss so far I have not had any reverse disgrace however a friend of mine has a black monte ss and is a big gn fan. He has had encounters at the gas stations where people ask him why he took the twin turbos off the v8 and changed the hood on the gnx to a cowl piece  I have heard the international one before. The explanation sounds logical. Another annoying one is the old farts that come up to you and ask you how your grand is doing. I'm thinking they were asking about my grandma or something but then again people are mesmerized by these cars so let them have their fun.

NC uses a black and grey paint scheme on their highway patrol cruisers, so yes I have gotten more than one cement-head convinced that my WH1 was a retired police interceptor--even with the t-tops! Not to mention a few years ago at Charlotte Auto Fair how many kept asking whether or not the GN that had the laptop and stand setup was one of those super rare FBI models....idiots: ya gotta love 'em!

Wait until someone calls it a Grand Am...I'd rather it be called a Monte Carlo than that.

I had a guy ask if my car was an international about two weeks ago! i thought that was the only time a buick was called an international but now i stand corrected:eek:

I was loading my WE4 into the trailer the other day in front of the house and a passer by spouted off with, "My mom had a car like that". I couldn't resist and had to ask, "Really?". His response was, "Yah, hers was a Cadillac."

I was like "WTF???"

I've gotten the "international" thing before. I was actually told that my car had the "international" motor in it by more than one person.
