that would be an excellent donor car for such a project, i wonder also would it be possible to use the digital dash from a 87-88 GTA along with a turbo 6 powertrain?

I dont see why not, vss signal to make the dash work. It still would have a cable to drive a odometer.....

It has miles, but a hardtop cloth... Maybe a 6.0 with twins and a turbo 400 with a 12 bolt in the back. Badge it up like a TTA and hit the streets

There is no cable for the odometer...These digital dashes were OK when they work right , but a PITA when they act up.

THe Maroon 88 mule car built by Triad/PAS got a digital dash and full TTA drivetrain so yes works fine as I've driven the car
