a buell probably isnt' going to happen, if it does it will be a new 900, then when thats not fast enough i'll start throwing money into it, i'll have a bike faster than a 1200 and for less money.

but more than likely if/when i get something i'll probably get a ducatti. nothing aginst the jap bikes, but everyone and their brother has one. i know they cost a little more but from what i've heard its money well spent, even still they aren't all that expensive. but i still like the looks of the buells...

Ducati makes great bikes and they are more charasmatic than most Jap bikes. You won't be dissapointed. Good luck and be safe.

Come on guys, WTF? The kid is going off to college and ur trying to tell him to look at ducati's are you guys for real? I am not bashing Ducati at all they made some sexy gosh darn bikes (the dry cluctch is what seperates them from the rest) but a kid going off to college is not going to be able to afford them. Insurance is going to be a mother because they make big CC engines or are known to not be a beginner bike. VMax's are amazing bikes, they can come in all black and are easy and cheap to modify (remind you of anything:D ). Buell's anything before 2001 arent worth throwing rocks at in my opinion. HD bought them out around then and started putting their lawn mower technology motors into them, but it seemed the after awhile Buell know that Harley's motors arent going to work with more sporty bikes and actually started to do some engineering. Forgot the name of the bike but the one with the brakes inlayed with the rim and oil storage in the frame was a ground breaking bike (and you cant deny that). Everyone who likes harleys raves about the V-Rod (stupid Hogs). The V-Rod was very special because it was the first real overhaul of the motor since they first started building the motors. But what most people dont know is that it HD didnt even design/engineer the motor, PORSCHE DID :D . So for once Hogs, stop saying you guys have reliable bikes, because you dont, everything rattles off of them and the motors are built to break. My ranting is over, now i am going to ride my BMW motorcycle around the block acouple of times.

first of it would be a second form of transportation, i'd go get a little beater from an auction as a driver. but for something on the weekends and to take to the track i think a bike, even ducatti, would be much cheaper possibly more fun, and definatly help with the girls more than say keeping my buick.

insurence isnt' too bad. i live in colorado and you can pretty much only ride in the summer, so i only have to buy insurence for a few months out of the year, and its really not very expensive to insure a bike in co. i know i should put my money into books and that sort of thing, but one way or another i will waste money, better a bike or car than beer...

how sure are you that porsche made the engines for buells? I know they started out as a brithish bike, then sold out to hd. i don't see germany or porsche in there at all, but it would be really cool to know that is for a fact who makes the engines.

but i seriously doubt i'll be getting one for a while, money is just too tight the way it is. unless i get rid of the buick, and i'm hating myself for thinking of that, but its something that will happen sooner or later.

I must have missed the part where he states he is going to college, but how he intends to pay for it is up to him. All I was trying to point out is that there are better bikes than the Buell.

FYI used Ducati's are very affordable. My friend just sold his Ducati Monster for around 5k....so they are attainable to those on a budget. Buells are not cheap so I assumed $$ was not much of an issue.

And yes....I am for real ;)
