My goal was........is.......11's. OK. Is it this hard to stop?? It's like trying to drink only half the bottle!!

My Goal when i got hte car a bout 3 years ago was a high 11 sec daily driver.
As you can se by my sig, i stopped there;)

My initial goal was to just break into the 12's and I would be happy there. Well, I did it and could probably easily dip into the 11's at this point but buying a house a couple years ago and keeping busy with the Buick business along with a full time job leaves little time and more importantly little $$$ to hit the track. In fact, I haven't been down the 1/4 in over two years now. Sooo, I guess I stopped at my goal for now anyway. :)

After owning my car for seven years im pretty much done modding it. Im at the point where I can drive it on the street pretty easy and then take it to track and run 10's with it. With only having to rebuild the motor everyother year. Now if I can just get it back to mid 10's Id be happy:D

My goal was a mid 12 sec car when i first bought it at the age of 16. I did enough mods to get it there (never ran it at this stage though) Soon i wanted a mid to high 11 second car and was presented with the oppurtunity to port the heads when my small 208/201 cam went. Well the reliable part was hard at first but has now been met and the ET goal has been surpassed. With no more mods other than alky i think i can go 11.20s-teens, so i guess thats my new goal, but i won't go 10s as i will not put a cage in it and im really happy with how i can drive it almost everyday with no problems and go to the track everyother week, run mid to low 11s and drive it home and listen to my stereo.

I'm done modding my car (there's really nothing else to bolt on!) until something goes inside the motor...then it's rebuild time...other than that I am happy with consistant 11.50's on the street...my goal next year is a 10.99 still on a bone stock motor but it's gonna take some tricks up my sleeve to accomplish that...:)

After 30 eighth mile passes I stopped at 7.7s with a stock engine/turbo/injector/TC/IC/suspension car and sold it last June. I don't even think that car ever ran slower than 8.2 on DRs and 21 psi, fast stock turbo car.

Bought a car a year ago and need to set a goal on it. Ran it about 6 passes so far on 24 psi and just missed my high 6 sec goal, but would have to aim lower with more boost for a TSS run.

I made an effort to sell one car lately, but gave up on that idea with the current car market.....so I have many years to set goals and dump money in my cars...lol. Too much fun not to own one anyway.:p

Yeah right. I stopped when I broke the crank and 3rd main cap. (My car used to be alot faster)
New beefed up long block coming soon.

thats what i want 10sec street car high's or low's nice job chris:)

i wanted 13's out of my car, and went froma 14.0 to a 13.2, so the new goal turned into 12's. when i did that, it turned into 12
s full street tune.

i stop when i reach my goals. but then set new goals.

Hey Rich,
Did you keep setting different goals or just planned on going that fast to begin with? Anyone know Bob Peterson? Here's his car on e-bay. Item # 4506657017. His car flies. I don't have that kind of money to start that fast. Maybe my goal is almost met.:)

My "realistic" goal was low 11's on the dog-tired original longblock, and I did that. The new motor went in last year after 162,000 miles and the buildup was intended to go high 10's. I reached that goal two weeks ago backing up my first-ever 10.9 with a 10.86 and there's still a few MPH left in it. If this motor goes 10.68-ish at 126+ I'll be tickled pink. I already have plans for my next stock block shortblock which will have a steel crank & Carillo (or equivalent) rods so that I can run these numbers or a little better and not have so worry as much about something falling out the bottom, as my wife drives the car at the track as well.

Yes, I stopped,
then, I stopped,
then, I stopped,
then, I stopped,
then, I stopped,
darm goals are just always moving around.

I'm done, got both my drivers into the 11's on stock longblocks on a difficult track. :)

Pump gas and alky.

GN only took 8 passes too, with 2 of those being stock with bad tranny. :p

Both well over 100K cars and since I have to drive them daily I think it's rather easy to stop setting difficult goals, especially when I read about rebuilding every year or other year.

>>> Not really Grey........it just kinda happened. Got my GN into the 10's that was a goal, then decided I wanted to go faster and over the course of 3 years bought a body, S2 motor and put her all together and then wanted to get my competition lic, so needed a 9 second car for that and that's where we are at now.

Like anything I love these cars and wanna go faster and we'll keep going till I am completely broke.........lol.

I bought my GN in 1990 as a 15 second peg leg car. I said I would never sell it untill it ran 10's. A few years ago I got that 10 second slip and sold it within a few weeks after all those years of blood, sweat, and tears...not to mention the $$$ to build it just the way I wanted it. Then I bought a MINT 12k mile TTA that was 100% stock right down to the tires....you notice I said "was" in that last line. I swore to myself and others I wouldn't touch it for a year....that didn't last long. The need for speed is worse than drugs I think! Now I have fully ported heads and another big cam going on/in it this winter. I wonder if the "need" will ever subside???

My goal was to get as fast as i could with a factory original bone stock shortblock, and i am very happy with the hp i got out of it considering i am a one man show and do all my own tuning,head/intake porting,re and re, tuning etc.
To bad i could not get the 60 foot down, i think i might have had a shot at a 9 with cooler weather and a 1.4 60 foot!

Let's see, when I built the waGoN, I was only interested in 12s, if I remember correctly, then mid 12s. Then once I got that I wanted to do it on pump gas and alcohol. Then once I did that, I wanted low 12s. Then I wanted low 12s on the whitewalls that I run. Then I wanted 11s, but still on the whitewalls. Then I did that(11.89). Now I just want mid 11s, and already have the 10 second motor in the back of my head. After that, probably mid 10s, then low10s, then........I stopped setting goals and saying that I would stop there. Now I just say,"I want to go this fast next, then......"
