Are the modified AOD's (4R70W) really that much stronger than the 200-4R? Is it worth having the lower gear set installed which seems to be a closer match to the 200-4R gear spread?

Are they better suited for track duty than the 200-4R? OD at full throttle? Manual valve body only or can they be set up for auto shift with expensive electronic controls?

I love our 200-4R's but as torque and hp climb I am slowly loosing confidence in them, but don't want to go without an OD trans on the street. Seems like a logical candidate in between a 200-4R and a 4L80-E

You must have a controller for auto shifts. The 4r70w is miles ahead of the aod in terms of strength and performance. The FB performance stuff is just poor carbon copies of the lentech designs. We dabbled with them but they never caught on.Also dont even think about going wot into 4th gear with either the aod, aode or 4r70w .We build only the electronic verdsions as the aod valve body isnt worth the effort when you have the simplified electronic versions with lock up converter already there.

There's an old fella at the track that was using a few Lentech units in a late model Ranchero with a BBF. I should say more than a few. He finally got fed up with them. He was doing respectable times for a heavy setup, but nothing real crazy. Mucho metal. Hard part failure.
