I am going to Houston this Friday. Maiden and Dream Theater. Just wondering if anyone else is going to catch a show for the summer tour in North America.

yes. going to MSG. i've seen em about 40 times over the years. always great. NY gigs are my favorite though.

i'd just love to be in the control tower of an airport so i could hear Bruce Dickinson say "flight 666 reqesting clearance to land"- or whatever it is that they actually say- when they fly into a city.
Iron Maiden is not only a kickas metal band that puts on a hell of a show, but they've got their own 747 with all their gear onboard- and it's piloted by the singer. now that, folks, is metal no matter how you look at it.

Maiden has been one of my all time favorites. Its going to be my first time seeing them. Cant wait. I remember going to the mall and buying Piece of Mind LP in 1983. My mom dropped my off of course.

Damn, me too... It's been a while. I think the last album I bought was seventh son of the seventh son IIRC.

I caught a bit of some live concert on TV... Wife "tolerated it" but wasn't thrilled. I told her it was because they weren't playing all the songs that I liked (ie: revalations, caught somewhere in time, powerslave, ancient mariner, - I know there's a bunch more but I can't even remember the names it's been so long... Geez, I feel old.:p

I even had a velco wallet with them on it...and still have a VHS concert recording that I special ordered when I was 17 or 18...

Ahhh the good old days.

One of my favorite Maiden Covers

Not trying to hijack your thread, but this was one of my favorite covers/posters I had back in the day... I got the guy here to make some changes to it and it's the beginning of a back piece. The rest is going to be post apocalyptic holocaustic background... anyway figured the group in here could either appreciate the ink or not... keep in mind I had this done on Sunday so it is still kinda distorted and the coloring will change slightly, sitting in the chair for 6 hours on this was not too fun.

I saw them in KC on the Brave New World Tour with Queensryche and Halford, hell of a show. I need to check the tour schedule but I'd definately like to see them again.

Very nice!!!!

Saw them at the Garden on Monday. I had pit tickets and ended up 10 feet from the stage dead center. the sound was amazing and Dave Murry was on fire! Just blazing. Adrian just flowed effortlessly as always. Jannick who? Oh the dancing guy. He kills me. He's had Steve and the crowd jumping up and down for years now. IT'S A METAL SHOW FOR GOD SAKE! THERE'S NO JUMPING IN METAL!

Great show though. Always is!

D

Scored some golden box seats, going this Sunday.

Glad you can go Rick. Is Dream Theater opening for that show? Those guys are the most underated group around. They are amazing. Talent across the board. Rick you are going to love DT's drummer. Let me know how you like the show.

I have been to about 50+ metal concerts since 1984 and I can say that without a doubt Maiden's show in Houston last month was the loudest concert I have ever been to.

Enjoy.

Well your right Eddie, DT's drummer rocks!

Iron Maiden was OK. My wife loved it but I am more picky. The sound was jacked. The loudest thing was Bruce's mic. Could not hear guitars and the drums were in and out. One sec the kick drum was pounding, next sec it was like they shut the mic off. They only played a couple old tunes right at the end but no run to the hills. O wait they did play Ratchild early on.

I give it 2 1/2 stars.

I hate to say it but I agree. Lots of new stuff and not enough old tunes. I guess we are showing our age.:D

Glad you got to see DT. One of my new favorite groups.
