I need to buy a battery for my car, and was going to buy another diehard gold. They won't give me a prorate if I don't have the paperwork, so I figure why bother getting the same.
I've heard of some lightweight sealed lead batteries but it looks like they wouldn't work reliably. Apprarently they cant take heat, and the cranking power isnt very high, at least on the smaller ones. Theres also the possibility of a regular style battery that is smaller. I figure if I'm going to replace it anyway, why not go lighter if possible, I don't want to relocate it.
I have done every search I could think of, but couldnt get a clear answer if it works on these cars reliably. Anyone have any input?

My personal favorite is a Delco 75 series. Weighs about 27 pounds. I have run a DynaBatt(14 pounds) and they work okay as long as you use the car 24/7. Let them sit and they dont seem to charge up as fast as a wet-cell. The new light weight starters draw less amps than the big OEM style so if you want to run a lighter battery with a lower CCA than you might want to consider upgrading the starter. I've also noticed some brands of 70 series batteries look smaller and look like they might be around 22 pounds which would be another option to look at.

Thanks, I will look into the Delco 70 or 75. As long as the CAs are enough, I may go with one.
27 lbs seems pretty light. I weighed my Diehard gold and I though it only weighed 32 lbs. My scale must be wrong.
