I was told it would be better to use for doing my patches, haven't found a price on it yet but heard it was expensive. I only have 2 patches to do that are in visible areas. Or I could just do it the old fashion way with a mig

We used 3M body panel adhesive to attach the bottom lips that we repaired on my drivers door. Worked great and made the door alot more rigid. I don't think I would use it on any parts that will be visible though. Play it safe and use the mig. It is easier to shape and smooth if it's all metal. Watch the heat setting and use spot welds across open panels. keep your spot welds about a half inch apart and keep going back over it till you fill all the gaps. Alot less chance of warping the panel this way than if you try you run a solid bead. Take some short breaks between welds to allow the metal to cool off...perfect time to make sure your beer doesn't get warm!!:D

I have used it quite a bit and prefer it on exposed panels a lot because it is inpossible to warp a panel with it. you cant butt your panels like with a welder so the best way I found was to step the panels and back glue them so they diddnt stick out and if you cant step them you can still back glue them and use a little glass to even it out. I have done quarters, pickup quarter patches and a bunch of other stuff with it and its always worked well. when I do the quarter patches on my car I will be gluing them

3m makes good stuff. Over the years in body shops and trade schools ive uses just about all of 3m's stuff. But the automix works exceptionally well especially on plastics. It however is not cheap and they have got it set up up were you have to buy the really expensive guns for application
