Anyone use muffler inserts?

The exhaust is a little too much with the open dump, but I here muffler inserts takes the edge off. Anyone try these or something like these?

Never used them on a car but they make a huge difference on V-twin bikes. I had a Bigdog with open exhaust, added some inserts that are similar and helped with the sharpness of the exhaust note without making it sound weak. I also dynoed it both ways and with picked up 4 ftlbs but lost 3hp.

Thats why I went to 4" catback. I wanted the benefits of dump but withOUT the noise. Plus you can hear the engine better at wot. Years back I was told to uncap the dump... It helps a lot and sounds badass. Well, I did and it sounded hideous and ridiculous.

There is drone with 4" exhaust but they sound great at wot.

Mufflex makes a 3.5" catback with Spintech, Magnaflow Straight thru or Flowmaster to choose from. 3" DP - 3.5" catback with a straight thru muff might be the ticket.

I have a 3'' stainless cat back from SLP which is a through design and it is very nice, but it I need to reduce the weight of the car because I have to cage it. I know this whole SLP unit is at least 40 lbs I could shave off if the insert sounded decent.
I'll probably just buy one and see what it sounds like.

I have used the perforated cone in a couple of vehicles and have great results. I put a Gibson exhaust on my 496 gas truck and absolutely HATED it. The drone was unbearable. It was loud and completely irratating at any RPM. I almost yanked it off. I decided to try one of the cone thingys and it made a world of difference. It sounds good now and the drone is almost completely gone. I also used one in my diesel pusher motorhome. I needed some extra space and the stock muffler was 18" by 2.5 feet. I replaced it with a much smaller muffler and added the cone. The difference between stock and the much more aggressive muffler was only slight. A great product.

Just got my Insert with collector. There is NO WAY I am putting this on my car. The insert dia. is only 1.75'' from a 3'' collector. This is nothing but a big restriction and will rob horsepower. I was thinking from the pic that the dia, was way bigger....almost like a through design. This is going back.
