Just bought some for my '86 Cutlass. Should have them tomarrow. As soon as I get around to installing them, I'll let you know what I think

I was mostly interested in the window seals for a hard top car if anyone has any info

I just put the window seal on the pass side on today. It fit great. The hardest parts is getting the old stuff off.

I did notice that my window needs some fine adjustment now. All in all, it was a great fit. Quality looks good. the only thing I did not like was the lack of the hard plastic in the seals for the doors (the factory seals have a hard plastic at both ends.)

How much are they?

I dont remember the brand that Postons sells, but that stuff is absolute garbage. The mold quality is terrible, nothing fits right, and they are already tearing at the seams only 9 months later.

After spending too much money at Kirbans for OEM GM stuff I tried the ebay company in the first post. They are LONESTAR MUSCLE CAR. 514 Houston St. Wills Point, TX, 75169 (866) 873-6005.

Ordered the lower molding that goes around the door and the upper "roof rail" from them. The brand they sell is sof seal. It is perfect! I have two cars sitting side by side (one with OE GM and the other with sof seal). The moldings are identical except fo the fact that the sof seal stuff is thicker (except on the rear corner of the upper window)- other than that the stuff fit exactly like oem and cost a fraction of the price.

How much? $129.95 + 9.95 for S&H= $139.95 for all 4 pieces. (this is not a typo) Try and buy even one piece of OE stuff for that price...:p

The kind I bought from postons were soffseal, and they are JUNK!!!! They fit like crap, the molding seams are horrible, and they're already splitting at the seams 9 months later. The seals had to be cut all over, and the window tracks had to be moved just to allow the window to roll up, and even still, the window wont roll up all the way without me opening the door. Plus the window is all angled and looks stupid. These are the roof rail seals. Get OEM weatherstripping!

When you add new weatherstrip ou will need to adjust the windows. There are multiple adjutments to make the window sit properly... It takes time but it is possible to make it fit right.

As far as the fit. These things are perfect. Maybe you got a bad batch? For what these things cost, I could go through several sets and never have the expense of OEM. Just my 2 cents.

I bought the Poston ones also ... Bad choice  . the windows will not go all the way up without opening the door

Window Adjustments?? Did you even try to do that? I had to do the adjustments even with the OEM GM stuff... It's a real PITA but it has to be done.

My car was completely apart. After we put the windows back in We worked with them quite a bit to get them to work ... no luck

Did you hit all the adjustment points? I ended up buying Kirbans book on window adjustments. It's a life saver as it describes the multitude of adjustments. It's not easy and kind of a pain in the arse but it can be done. After I installed the GM weatherstrip we spent a few hours doing the adjustments.

Now, the other day I re-installed used weatherstrip, new cadillac motors and new windows into new doors and they fit perfect with about 20 minutes of adjustments...

The window adjustments are very finickey (sp). It's a trial and error thing that you must have patience with. Personally, it's one of the things I hate most about messing with these cars.

Seals

these are what you want to use, trust me!

I do have them soft seal window seals, the ones that are on the door its self. The chrome peice has nothing under it, I did'nt notice it till I put a chip on my door paint. They are not flat on the ends, you have to file them, CRAP!
stick with the stuff above, I have them on my doors around the top and bottom. You will have to adjust the windows properly, they are new and remember that. The doors will be a little hard to shut for a few months, but they break in. Dont forget to use some kind of protective stuff on them to make them last a life time. I believe they do have a good warranty too. Case closed:D

Getting the old stuff off makes for a few hours of fun:eek: But the end result is sure worth it. I still have to close my door twice every time I shut because of the good seal and it is quiter going down the road.

I have used Postons and thought the box said Soft Seal, anyway, they are harder than factory. Fit was ok. imo, factory is best. Waiting to adj window a few months is not a bad idea, as it will change. Always use baby oil, or some type of lube to make everything happy and easier life on window motor.

Just a tip ... a few years ago I acquired a GN with new window seals... don't know which brand. Lots of air noise as I went down the rode. Tried to adjust, but never achieved any success. Subsequently, the car was sold. Acquired a dark red T in July. Same situation ... again, new seals, and intolerable air noise, both sides. Tried adjusting, to no avail. Finally pulled off the new seals to find some idiot had bent and distorted the retaining tracks while removing the original seals, which then allowed gobs of air to leak in while going down the road. I removed these and replaced with straight, undamaged, junkyard units, available on any G-body coupe, and, to my relief, it fixed the air noise problem. ;)
