I just installed a 50mm Tial blow off valve today to get rid of that nasty back surge on the turbo. Anyone running this valve on a GN!!!! what size spring, and what size hose to the valve. Mine doesnt seem to be doing anything!!
 
here a few pics of mine. The guy that machined my pipe made it fit just with the clamps that came with it, it wasn't even extra money just took a lil more time to make. I dont remember if i have the .6 bar or the .8 bar spring, but it works great for me, its not quite but its not loud either, has a unique sound to it i love mine.

where does that line go

Where does the other end of that hose tie into, the one that goes down by the valve cover?

Mine is set up simular, and I beleive it has the lte spring in it, but I dont hear anything happening except the surging thats still beating up my turbo. Any more details!!!!!
 
what details you looking for?

just make sure u have a good vacuum source for the top of the BOV. And place the BOV as close to the TB as possible and you should be good.
 
i tried the tials BOV, you need to hook up a vaccum gauge and determin what spring you need. If you get one thats too light it will open at idle.
Also make sure you have a good vaccum source for it .
Since then i moved to a HKS by pass valve " aka bov" that has the adjustment screw with no need to be changing springs. " they go for 110.00 bucks on ebay."

PS be careful when changing the spring in your tials, as to not tear the diaphram.
 
my .8 spring works perfectly, i run 15 psi on the street and it doesn't open unless boost is above 7-8psi. Nice and quite too which is the best part.

talking more and more about this im getting worried when i install my ALKY system. But, im pretty sure that the BOV stays closed during my WOT throttle runs, so im thinking no alk will spill onto the motor. And the alky system stop spraying once the unit doesn't see WOT conditions. Sounds all EZ but ill deal with it when i get there, im not toooo worried about it tho.

speaking of PSI, my ta60 still hasn't seen anything above 15, i wonder what it can be turned up too hehe...stay tunned!

Heres the deal, Im running a 70 GTQ-TRIM turbo,and have surging back to the turbo at 1psi of boost,and just gets worse as more boost is accomplished, and at 15-20 psi,it sounds like a hammer beating on the turbo on decel!!! Now here are the tial springs are as follow:
10-13in of vac = a #7 spring. 14-17in of vac = a #9 spring. At operating temp. my motor is putting out 13-14inches of vacuum. Vacuum source is good,and Im using a 1/4" line 16inches long for vacuum that fits both the valve and vac.source perfect. I started with the #9 spring,and the valve would not work at all, at any levels.I put the #7 spring and it's blowing off perfect, except its staying open at idle,and closes once accelerated!!! But this cant be rite!!! Car runs normal, but at idle the valve is open,and I guess you can say its sucking unfiltered air in. But im stuck and dont know what to do with this!!!!! Any idea's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
